Euless Trinity 6 Terrell 0

The Terrell Tigers were one hit in a 6-0 loss Saturday to the Euless Trinity Trojans in their final game of the Benny Jones Tournament.

The Trojans scored in the bottom of the first inning and behind good pitching and fielders being in the right position they were never threatened. The Nathan Adam registered the only hit for the Tigers, getting a one out single in the 6th inning. The Tigers only had two other base runners reaching on walks.

The Tigers finished 1-2 in pool play, and will next face Garland Lakeview Centennial at home before heading to the Waxahachie Tournament next Thursday. The Tigers lost game one of the tournament 13-2 to Garland Lakeview Centennial.

I still haven't been able to go through all of my pictures. Look for a few more on the blog and on Facebook.

Skywatch Friday-Storm brewing

The clouds stretched from the sky to the ground as the storm was rolling in.

Skywatch Friday sites can be found here.

The Terrell Tigers lost their first game in the Benny Jones Baseball Tournament in Desoto. They will have a chance to put this game behind them tomorrow morning at 9am, that's if the rain holds off.

Reading material

Ever find yourself looking for something to read.....anything to read?

You think they clean themselves?

The windows of American National Bank on Moore Avenue.

When you eat lunch on a budget you have to find the sales and special offers. This past Monday was the last day that Dickey's Barbecue was offering pulled pork sandwiches for just $1. It was a special they were offering every Monday in January and February. I noticed the last few Mondays that everyone in line was getting 2 sandwiches a side and a drink. Just because they were $1 doesn't mean that you need two sandwiches. I wonder if they would be getting two sandwiches if they were normal price? These guys were making pigs of themselves.......really.

Today lunch was Popeyes. A leg and thigh is only .99 cents on Tuesdays. I made my way to up to order and was asked how many specials I wanted. I watched others order 2 and 3 specials with sides and a drink. I think the cheap prices don't save anyone money, just just makes them fatter. I bought 1 special and a side but no drink. I think they overcharged me. I didn't say anything though, I was chicken.

Yesterdays Tiger baseball game was canceled because of the wet weather and the field condition. Next scheduled game is Thursday in the Desoto Tournament, rain is still in the forecast for Friday.

My vote counted

I early voted yesterday after work. Its only the party primaries, but many of the Kaufman County races are decided in the primary.

The Terrell Tribune must be swimming in ad money from so many candidates running for office.

Today's snow will probably keep the Terrell Tigers from kicking off the 2010 baseball season tonight in Crandall.

I didn't get a chance to link to this yesterday, but here is the
complete tournament schedule for the Benny Jones Classic baseball tournament that starts Thursday in Desoto.

I was reading the police report in Sundays print edition of the Terrell Tribune and I noticed Dexter Deshun Ward was arrested in the 1900 block of West Moore Aveune, theft less than $1500 with two or more previous convictions. Same person as the American Idol reject?

After reading the police report, I read this letter to the editor from Mr and Mrs. Denny Fraze.

Monday Morning Mashup

This is the new Choctaw Resort and Casino in Durant, OK. Brian and I met some friends up there yesterday. I came home with more money that I went with.

Snow is in the forecast for Tuesday and a wintery mix for Friday. That can only be bad news for the baseball Tigers. Terrell High School Varsity baseball is scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon in Crandall and then take part in the Desoto baseball tournament starting Thursday. The first tournament game for the Tigers is Thursday at 4:30PM. They turn around and play game 2 at 9:00 AM Friday morning. Saturdays game is scheduled to begin at 11:30AM. If the Tigers finish in 1st or 2nd in pool play they will play later again Saturday night.

13 Tiger JV photos have been uploaded to the Terrell Daily Photo Faceball page.

I still need to vote in the primary. Early voting runs through the 26th.

Anyone local know whats going on inside Bass-Rutledge Drug store? Most of the shelves are empty.

The Terrell Heritage Jubilee is less than 2 months away. Do you think your BBQ is the best? Enter it into the BBQ cook off.

Don has some nice shots of the Terrell Sharks football game.

The JV coach said that so far this season, out of 21 days of practice the JV team has only been able to practice 3 days.

Tigers JV practice

Thursday night was varsity, Friday night the JV team was able to practice and scrimmage. The visiting team from DeSoto got lost on the way to the park so the JV Tigers were able to get a few more minutes hitting.

Sunday a few pictures from the scrimmage.

Friday bonus

A few more shots from the baseball scrimmage between Terrell and Kaufman. Over 40 pictures have been uploaded to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook fan page.

Skywatch Friday- Baseball, finally!

I have been waiting for baseball season since last years playoffs. The regular season hasn't started yet, but the Tigers did scrimmage against the Kaufman Lions last night. How could I resist not making my Skywatch Friday picture from the field. Click to enlarge.

More Skywatch Friday sites are here.

I will post a few more baseball shots from last night in my Friday bonus post later today.

I got nothing

I am ready for the day to be over, and it hasn't even started yet.

This was taken yesterday afternoon in Ben Gill Park with the camera on my Blackberry.

I added yesterdays girls soccer pictures and a few extras to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page. Click the link on the right.

Am I the only person who could care less what Tiger Woods has to say?

Lady Tigers soccer

The Lady Tigers traveled to Forney Tuesday night to face the North Forney Falcons. Terrell dominated the match winning 5-0.

It's still cold but things are looking up

The white stuff is gone, but it's still cold.

I went running down at the park after work, I can't match Brian running 20 minutes straight yet, but I was able to run 16 minutes, going 3-5-5-3 with 2 minutes of walking between each run.

I wasn't about to get out of the car to get a photo after dark though. This is Moore Ave from the car.

I am not much of a Texas A&M fan, but they gave #1 Kansas a run last night in men's basketball. I was pulling for the Aggies.

Pitchers and catchers report this week! I would love to be able to shoot a MLB game.

If the weather holds, we should be able to get some local sporting events in this week. The boys home soccer match against Kaufman has been moved to this Thursday night and the varsity baseball team is tentatively scheduled to scrimmage against Kaufman also on Thursday.

Last night I told myself that I was going to bed early, before I knew it it was running up on 11PM. Saying I am going to bed early is like saying I am going to work late. Once it gets close to time to go home, I say never mind I'll work late tomorrow.

Facebook seemed to be having problems yesterday. If you didnt get a chance to see the pictures from the snow storm, click the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook Fan page.

Monday bonus

Lets hope we have seen the last of the snow for the season.

Monday Morning Mashup

Most of the snow is gone and its time to go back to work....joy. Today is also trash day. Since we were without power from 8:30AM Friday to sometime early AM Saturday morning, the contents of our fridge will be sitting by the curb. We got it easy Cilla was without power for 60.5 hours.

This is from Friday morning.

Exciting finish to the Daytona 500 yesterday, I was worried that Dale Jr. was going to pull it out at the end. I am glad he didn't. I wonder how many people started drinking when the race started, got tipsy, sobered up, and got drunk again before the race finished. That was an all day race.

Next year can the half time entertainment for the NBA All-Star game please lip sync or get someone who can sing half decent live? The game was fun to watch though, with a close ending.

Early primary voting starts Tuesday in Texas. Vote, but research the candidates first.

From what I have been able to find out, the Tigers boys basketball team had senior night Saturday night in a game that was postponed from Friday night. The Tigers lost a close game to Forney. The boys final game of the year is Tuesday night in Lancaster.

We went and saw Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief Saturday night. It was a fun movie. They showed a trailer for Dairy of a Wimpy Kid, that looks like a funny movie. Click through the link and watch the trailer.

I posted over 40 pictures from the snow to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook Fan page. Click the link to the right and become a fan.

Brian also has a Texas Daily Photo Facebook Fan page with his photos of the snow including the snow families found around town. Here is his page.

A long night

The snow knocked out power to our house Friday morning around 8AM. This is my street around 9AM yesterday. I think we ended up getting more snow than I first guessed. Power was out all night. I am posting this from Comfort Inn.

Skywatch Friday-Snow kidding

I don't know how much snow we got in Terrell, Texas, but I would guess 7"-8". Normally when we get snow its an inch maybe two and is gone within a few hours. At times it looked like the snow flakes were as larger as quarters. Not much sky to see.

Other Skywatch Friday sites can be found here.

Snowman fun

Terrell ISD has announced that district schools will be closed tomorrow February 12, 2010.

Thursday bonus-Snow Day

This is my front yard at 7AM this morning and its still snowing. Thankfully the temperature has stayed close to freezing and the roads are not that bad yet.

Saturdays Varsity Tigers baseball scrimmage with Rockwall and Lake Highlands has been cancelled.

Upward Basketball

During half time of the Lady Tigers basketball game, the crowd was treated to a game of basketball by the Upward players.

From the Upward website:

Upward, the world’s largest Christian sports program for children, was created with a vision to provide the best sports experience possible for every child. Each year some 1 million people around the world play, coach, referee, or volunteer in Upward sports leagues and camps hosted by more than 2,600 churches. Anyone – children and volunteers of any faith or no faith – can participate in Upward sports. Specifically designed for children in K5- sixth grade, Upward aims to bring out “the winner” in every child – regardless of the game’s score.

Here are some of the pictures from Tuesday nights fun.

Make it stop

It has been cold and rainy for what feels like weeks. We are suppose to get a break from the rain, but not the cold.........and its suppose to snow Thursday. The weather has already cause the cancellation of the Terrell baseball scrimmage that was scheduled for today. Its probably only a matter of a day or so before the scrimmages scheduled for Saturday are cancelled.

I added photos from the 2009 Terrell Photo Walk to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook fan page. Click the link to the right and become a fan.

I wonder what they would say if Kyle Busch did this? This will be Kyles year, starting with this weekends Daytona 500.

Monday bonus

Choctaw Casino in Durant doesn't officially open their new casino until Tuesday at 6PM, but they did open the doors early. So we made the trip up Sunday. It really does look like a Vegas resort. I can't wait to stay in the hotel.

Monday Morning Mashup

World Champion New Orleans Saints. Sounds good. What a game yesterday. It's sad one team had to lose, I like them both. To be honest, I only watched the last few minutes. My Monday Bonus post will explain why.

Saturday night we went to the Terrell Bowling Center, first time in 10 years. I forgot how much fun bowling is. My high out of 4 games was 189.

The Terrell Tigers baseball team is suppose to begin scrimmaging this week, but the weather will probably change those plans. It seems this happens every year. Here is the full varsity baseball schedule.

The boys and girls basketball teams play their final home games of the year this week. Senior night for the girls is Tuesday night. Parents night for the boys is Friday night.

Brian has some neat shots of Terrells past posted at Texas Daily Photo.

Check back after noon for the Monday Bonus Post.

Big Game Sunday

They say the kicker is the loneliest guy on the football team. Lets hope Garrett Hartley is the hero again. Saints 34-31.

This guy was out by himself practicing kickoffs yesterday in Ben Gill Park.

My moon

I was outside early this morning and noticed how clear the sky was and how nice the moon looked. Its not a full moon, but half will do.

Skywatch Friday-Water Tank

The Terrell boys basketball team is home tonight to face Red Oak. The boys soccer team is scheduled to play at home tonight against Forney. Field conditions may force a change of plans.

Thursday Afternoon Post

Tonight Kaufman County Republicans will hold their 2nd candidate forum in Forney at the 1st Baptist Church starting at 7pm.

If you are into politics, its worth checking out and getting to know the candidates before early voting starts.

Above is Lance Gooden who is running a strong campaign to unseat Betty Brown in the Texas State House. The picture was taken at the 1st forum held in Terrell last month.

Rain and baseball fever

It seems just as soon as the ground starts to dry out we get more rain.

I know the Super Bowl is this weekend and the Winter Olympics start soon, but I am ready for Terrell Tiger baseball.

I was looking through my old baseball pictures and found the first picture baseball I posted. It was posted in March 2008. The game was Forney against Terrell. It was only 2 years ago, but I think it was 4 or 5 cameras ago. I hope I show some improvement this year.

This was originally posted on March 29, 2008.
