Once school started the ride to work became longer. It seems everyone leaves at the same time.
I've noticed the weather always seems to forecast a break in the heat 7 days out. The top is the 7 day forecast from Monday morning. The bottom is the 7 day forecast from this morning. Both from WFAA.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup
The 11th Annual Tri-Rock Triathlon was held yesterday in Rockwall. Celebrated Images was the official race photographer. They have their pictures already posted from the race.
After Sept. 1, Texas highways will no longer have different speed limits during the day and at night. The law also lets transportation officials raise limits to 75 mph in remote areas. Here is a look at some of the different laws passed in the last legislative session.
College football starts this week, with games starting on Thursday night through Monday. The big game of the first week will be held Saturday in Arlington at Cowboys Stadium when #3 Oregon takes on #4 LSU.
Other interesting match-ups include TCU vs. Baylor and Boise St. vs. Georgia.
The varsity football Tigers (1-0) travel up the road Friday night to take on the Greenville Lions (0-1). The Tigers beat the Lions last year 42-7, and the Lions lost last week to Little Elm 41-7.
We got a brief rain shower in Terrell at 6AM this morning, but the temperature was 91 degrees. We might get a break later this week, if the WFAA seven day forecast holds.
We didn't have a race on Saturday, so we ran the Highway 66 bridge in Rockwall, 2 miles each way. The next race is a 10K on Labor Day in McKinney. Its called the Labor of Love and it takes place at the Stonebridge Beach Club. We have races scheduled for every weekend in September.

Rain
We got lightning, a small grass fire, strong winds, thunder and .06 inches of rain. It sure seemed like more than that. It was enought to drop the temperature from a high of 104 down to 78.
Live in the Terrell area and like to play Bingo? A new bingo hall will open on Friday.
Friday is also the opening game of the new varsity football season. Terrell vs. Kaufman, 7:30, Memorial Stadium.

I couldn't resist
I am sure everyone has heard about the 11 year old girl from Forney, TX who won a contest to be Mayor for a day. Her first order of business was to rename Main St. to Justin Bieber Way. SO, since Forney is just next door, we had to drive over and get a picture. If you haven't heard the story, just Google, Justin Bieber Forney.
Getting the picture wasn't easy, I had to shoo away Grandmas and little girls with bows in their hair. As cars passed by, the drivers would shake their head in disgust. But, I got my picture. You can throw up now.

Spring Fall Classic Triathlon, Lake Tawakoni
Sunday Brian and I drove out to Lake Tawakoni to take pictures and watch the Spring Fall Classic Sprint Triathlon presented by Big Earth Racing. I thought running was hard. There were 106 finishers, results are posted at No Limits Timing. I can't imagine competing in a triathlon. Brian and I both have a lot of pictures posted to our Facebook pages.

Hot, dry, windy
A small brush fire erupted yesterday afternoon near the Terrell industrial park. We were driving when we saw the smoke and had to investigate. The Terrell Fire Department did a great job keeping the fire small and putting it out rather quickly.
There are more brush fire pictures and pictures from the Taste of Terrell on the Facebook page.

Skywatch Friday-Its my birthday
Today is my birthday. I hope the people at work don't go overboard with my party.
OK, this isn't for me. This is the for the Advocare building next door to ours. I am taking today off of work. I plan on having lunch at the Taste of Terrell, then maybe buy some clothes during the tax free weekend.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup
I finished a 10K race yesterday. My 3rd 10K, the 2nd being timed. I did a run/walk routine and finished 15th in my age group.........out of 15. There were 573 10K finishers, and 1375 half marathon finishers. I hate crowds, but I love the rush of starting a race in a huge group.
Pictures have been posted to Facebook from the Tigers Freshman and Varsity scrimmages against Arlington Sam Houston. Check them out and 'like' the page or your favorite shots.
The Tigers next scrimmage is this Friday at home against Sulphur Springs. The opener is August 26th at home against Kaufman.
Sunday, August 21st is the Spring/Fall Classic Sprint Triathlon at Lake Tawakoni. I'm not participating, but I will be out there taking pictures. You still have time to register.
Matt Rich has made the Air Force Academy Track and Field team.
Before any race you have to make sure your are ready.
This is the start of the half marathon, they started 10 minutes before the 10K.

Yesterday was picture day for the Terrell Tigers football squads. A professional photographer was on hand to take portraits of the players and I was there to take head shots for the program and to capture some candid shots. Skywatch Friday-Monthly Street
Notice the sky isn't blue? Yesterday was overcast most of the day and we had a front pass through just as the temperature was climbing to near 100. The high for the day only made it to 97. The 100 degree streak was two days short of the record, stopping at 40 days. Forecast for next week is back into the 100s.
The street hasnt changed much in the last few months but the pecans are starting to grow.

Drought continues
We could use some rain. These two pictures are from Ben Gill Park. Cilla has a picture of how the heat and dry weather has dried up her pond. Here is a shot of her pond from 2010 after a couple of days of rain. What a difference.
The Lady Tigers volleyball team opens their season tonight at home against South Garland.
