Goal line formation

My view of the game, standing behind the end zone. I saw quite a few plays by West Mesquite lined up near the goal line. On this drive they settled for a field goal.

In the You Tube clip below, I was trying to get the band playing at the start of the game. Near the end, the Terrell player fumbles the ball. I was able to get the West Mesquite player picking the ball up and scoring. Only 2 minutes into the game the route was on.

Terrell Tigers unable to go 2-0

Terrell lost a tough game tonight to Paris North Lamar. I know football is King in Texas, but these are High School kids. I wish people would remember that.

Carrollton RL Turner band

No monthly theme post for today. It should be back October 1st.

For Gustav updates from New Orleans, I recommend this site, Gustav Bloggers. I remember following Katrina from their updates in 2005.

It looks like our area could get the bad weather from Gustav later this week.

Pictured above are the Carrollton RL Turner Lionettes and band. They made the trip out to Terrell for the football game Friday night. They performed at half time for the crowd.

Terrell Tigers start the season 1-0

Friday night was the opening of the High School football season in Texas. Terrell played host to the RL Turner Lions from Carrollton. Terrell looked strong on both sides of the ball winning 20-0. The Tigers lost their starting quarterback midway through the first quarter but they were still able to score 3 times. Next week Terrell plays host to North Lamar from Paris, Texas.

My football pictures didnt turn out that great. It's difficult to get good shots from the stands. Sunday I will post a few pictures of the bands.

Terrell Tigers scrimmage against Sulphur Springs

Friday night the Terrell Tigers hosted the Sulphur Springs Wildcats in a football scrimmage at Memorial Stadium. This served as a tune up before the first game of the season next week against RL Turner at Memorial Stadium in Terrell, game time is 7:30. The Terrell Tribune has a story about how the Tigers fared in the scrimmage. I have a few more pics I will put up tomorrow.

High School football season

For High Schools that had a Spring practice, today is the first day of football practice for the upcoming year. Going to a high school football game is on my list of things to do this year. Last time I went to a high school football game was when I was in high school back in 1982. Terrell will hold a scrimmage with Sulphur Springs on August 22nd. The box office should be buzzing on August 29th, the night of the first home game against RL Turner. You can find the complete schedule here.

Terrell Spring Football

High School football is a big deal in Texas. Right now team are having their spring practices and scrimmages. Last night the Terrell Tigers held their spring game. This is a chance to get an idea of what the team will look like in the fall. It gives coaches a chance to try new things and put the year before to rest. It gives the fans a look at who the new star will be. It is more of a controlled scrimmage than a game, but it was fun to watch. Today's picture is the players getting final instructions before the game began.

Choke

There are many Dallas Cowboy football fans still crying this morning over their team losing in the playoffs yesterday. I am sure my photo represents what many people did last night and this morning. No, I am not a Dallas Cowboy fan, and Terrell, Texas is not named for Terrell Owens.
