Deborah Kay's Sugar Rush 5K Race, Terrell, Texas
Saturday morning Ben Gill Park in Terrell played host to the Sugar Rush 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run. It was a great turnout, I would guess about a 100 runners and walkers, it was for a great cause and it looked like everyone had a great time. I will be posting more pictures of the race of the next few days.

The Smart Car
I heard the rumors, but I didn’t believe them. They said in Europe that they named a car after me. No way, I thought. But then, I saw it. The car named after me, the Smart Car.
I was able to get this picture of the Smart car on I-30 in Rockwall. I apologize for not getting the entire car in the frame. It was rush hour, I was driving about 70mph, talking on the phone, drinking a soda, eating a candy bar, texting my BFF and smoking a cigarette. But I think I did pretty good, huh?
OK, it’s a joke. I don’t smoke.
OK, I was the passenger.

R. L. Warren House, Terrell, Texas
Terrell has quite a few magnificent historic homes. The house below is R. L. Warren house. The house has been empty for at least the last 11 years. There has been a lot of work done on the house in that time. There was a sign out front quite a few years ago that announced the house would be turned into a restaurant. Not sure what, if any, plans the owners have for it now.
Below is the text from the Historical Marker on the property.
The R. L. Warren House
Unusual mansion built in 1904 by prominent residents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Warren. Architect was J. E. Flanders, Dallas; Keith & Co., Kansas City, Stencilled interiors. Hey bud
I normally don't post flower photos, because I cant catch them just right, and most of my flowers look like they came from the discount bin. I guess I don't have a green thumb. I did find a nice rose that was just about to bloom that I thought looked nice. Of course its not from my yard.
Its going to be in the mid 70s today, so off to do something outside. Have a great Saturday!

Terrell's daily newspaper
Terrell is located about 30 miles east of Dallas and it’s the largest town in Kaufman County. The North Central Texas Council of Governments estimates the January 1, 2007 population of Terrell as 15,750. One of the nice things about living in Terrell is we have our own daily newspaper, The Terrell Tribune. They have a print version and an online version. Not bad for a small town. I usually check out the main stories online, then purchase the paper on the way home from work. Do you live in a small town with a daily newspaper? Be sure to check out the link on the sidebar. The sports editor for the Tribune has a blog that was voted 2007's Best Blog by Texas Associated Press Managing Editors. He has his pick for the NBA championship posted now.

Road Trip-Alcohol Abuse
Back in the day, I would probably joke around and say this is a great example of alcohol abuse. How could anyone leave unattended an almost full miniature bottle of Bacardi rum? Shameful. But, times change, and I haven't had a drink since 1995 because of ulcers, I don't miss it, I also haven't smoked in just over 3 years. Today I would call it litter or trash that gives me a picture to post on the last day of April. Behind the bottle is the Woodall Rogers Freeway and uptown Dallas, Texas.
Mo posted a similar photo last Saturday on Another Las Vegas.

Road Trip-Bank of America building, Dallas, Texas
The Bank of America building in downtown Dallas is the tallest building in Dallas. This view is looking south from the West End parking garage. At night the building it lit up in green neon.
See that little dot on the right of the building, they are window washers. There are some jobs I just was not cut out to do. Baseball player and window washer are two of them.

Road Trip-Dallas Farmers Market again
I mentioned yesterday that at the Dallas, Texas Farmers Market you could get a lot more than just produce. There are thousands of flowers, ferns and trees that can be bought to brighten up your yard or garden. We are going to go back and get a couple hanging ferns for our front porch. The ferns are huge.
We got a Texas Star flower at the farmers market probably 5 years ago. Its still going strong and is coming up again this year. Here is a picture of one of the flowers from last summer. It probably is 8 inches across.
