I got mine

The Mega Millions Lottery tonight is a record $540 million.  Cash payout is $389 million.  I bought my tickets last night.  I am also in a pool at work.  I don't want to be the only person to show up on Monday and find out everyone else quit because they won and I didn't play.   Good Luck.

The Tigers baseball team gets to play at Quiktrip Park tonight.  I hope to get some fun pictures.

Downtown Artwork

A new mural has been put in place in downtown Terrell.  It's a tribute to Terrell's history as a training base for British fighter pilots during WWII.  Painted by members of the Northeast Texas Fine Art Alliance.  The mural is located on the corner of Moore and Frances.

A few more Skywatch Friday sites can be found here.

The Dallas Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon was Sunday, my body is still feeling it today. But, I'll be back running again after work. I have to improve my time before the next half marathon in Rockwall.

Rock 'n' Roll

Yesterday was the Dallas Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon.  This is my view as we headed to the starting line.  There were over 11,000 runners for the half and a couple of thousand in the half relay.  My time wasn't that great, but it gives me something to work on before the next half marathon, the Patriot Half in Rockwall, TX on Memorial Day.  The only negative, was the race was on the same weekend as the Captiol 10,000 in Austin.

Tigers win 1st District contest

Brian Wickersham pitched 7 innings, gave up 4 hits, had 6 strikeouts and 1 unearned run in Terrell's 3-1 win over West Mesquite.  He also hit a RBI single.

Rock n Roll Dallas Expo

Tomorrow is the Dallas Rock n Roll Half Marathon.  Friday and today is the expo.  Its a great place to shop, get samples, massages, sign up for other races and listen to experts talk about their craft.  One of the featured speakers yesterday was marathoner Steve Jones.  He is a two time winner of the Chicago marathon, and he has won the New York and London marathons.

Candidate forum

Last night the Kaufman County Republican Women hosted a candidate forum in Terrell.  The primary in Texas has been set and voters will select candidates for the November election on May 29th.  Since there are only a couple of local races that will be decided in the November election, the primary is where most of the races will be decided.

I was just there to take a few pictures and listen to what each candidate had to say.  The highest profile race is for Texas State Rep District 4.  Lance Gooden is the incumbent, Dr. Stuart Spitzer is his challenger.  Both are Republicans.

I am sure the Tribune will have coverage of the entire event.

Setting up the big top

The Carson and Barnes Circus rolled into town yesterday morning.  They were scheduled for two shows yesterday and two more today.  I would have loved to have stayed around and watch them finish setting up, but I had a yard to mow.  I didn't go back and watch the show, that's more for the kids.

Yesterday was the Dash Down Greenville 5K and parade.  We only go for the run, we try to beat the crowds out of there.  Next year we may have to stick around long enough to see the parade.  We were there long enough to see the last of the "runners" coming down Greenville.  Here are the results of the 2012 Dash Down Greenville.

We go from a 5K this week to the Rock n Roll Dallas half marathon next week.

Tigers complete non-district play

The Tigers had one more non-district game last night, traveling to Emory, TX to take on the Emory Rains Wildcats. The Tigers lost the game 13-3.  Tonight they travel to Red Oak for an important district game.  The Tigers have already dropped their first two district games.

There are two videos loaded on Facebook from last nights game.

Tomorrow is the Dash Down Greenville 5K and parade.  Anyone going down there?  It's always fun.

The Tigers defeated Dallas Sunset last night 6-4.  They start their 2012 Spring Break mini-tour this afternoon playing in Greenville.  Thursday night they play at Emory Rains and Friday afternoon they travel to Red Oak for a district game.

The wet weather has helped fill area lakes. The sunny 80 degree weather yesterday and today will help turn everything green. I'm not good at macro shots.  It's something I need to practice on.

The Terrell Athletic Booster Club held its monthly meeting last night.  It was our first opportunity as a booster club to meet the new Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Kevin Wilson.  Our normal meetings last at most an hour.  Last nights meeting stretched almost 2 1/2 hours.  For some members of the TABC this is their 4th AD is 5 years.  He has a lot of work to do, but has a lot of ideas on how to make all athletic programs succeed.  I am sure with help from the booster club and community he can make it work.

Sticking to it

I haven't really been on a diet, just trying to eat better. You know, bananas, apples, oranges......

Smile, its Monday.

Stonebridge Racers

Yesterday the Stonebridge Racers hosted the Leaping Leprechauns 1K, 5K & 15K run in McKinney.  Brian and I ran the 15K race.  I'm trying to get ready for the Dallas Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 2 weeks.  The 5K race started about 15 minutes before the 15K race.  This is the 5K start.  Race Chip Timing has the results of the 5K & 15K.

More rain

We got a break from the rain yesterday.  It was mostly overcast and looked like rain.  Today it's supposed to start early and get heavier as the day goes on.  Our lakes still need it, so we'll take it.

Of course the rain will make it hard to run this morning.  We are running a 15K race in McKinney.

Skywatch Friday-Wet weekend ahead

Check out other Skywatch Friday sites.

Yesterday was supposed to be the start of the Terrell Classic Baseball tournament.  Instead of getting baseball we got rain.  Yesterdays games were canceled early in the day.  With more rain in the forecast the games for Friday and Saturday were called off Thursday night.

Because the tournament was cancelled before any games were started, each team that was entered will be allowed to pick up 3 additional games.  UIL rules allow teams to play in 2 tournaments and 20 games, or 3 tournaments and 17 games.  This would have been Terrell's third tournament.

1:00 PM Baseball update:
JV games at Ferris tomorrow are canceled

The Tigers have added Dallas Sunset at Terrell @ 6:00 on Tuesday and Emory Rains at Emory Rains @ 7:00 on Thursday. Coach Davis said the Tigers are still looking for 1 game to make up either on Monday or Wednesday of next week.

Weather permitting

The Terrell baseball classic is scheduled to begin this morning at 9:00AM.  Stormy weather is scheduled to move in at 9:01AM.  OK, not maybe exactly at 9:01 but it's supposed to get bad this afternoon.

There is an area off the highway where we run that always has standing water.  It could turn into a flooded area if we get a lot of rain.  I bet this will be full of snakes come summer time.

Short timer

I wonder if the lease for Endtime is month to month? There is space available in the building. I bet that place is depressing. Politics & Religion, must be Texas.

Today is registration day for the Marine Corps Marathon. Brian and I will be signing up. It will be our first marathon.

Under watchful eyes

The Tigers pitching staff this year is made up of Juniors and Sophomores.  Head Coach Gage Davis and Asst. Coach John Chilcoat keep an eye on JR Cody Patton in last Saturdays game against Argyle.

Last night I pllayed around video.  This is Brian Wickersham hitting a single to center field last night against Waxahachie scoring a run.  The Tigers lost the game 10-3.

Weather permitting, Thursday the Terrell baseball classic tournament starts at 9AM.  Teams coming to Terrell for the tournament are, Wills Point, North Forney, Dallas Sunset, Whitehouse, Tyler John Tyler.  Game are scheduled for all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the ball field in Ben Gill park.
