You can't hide

A tom cat has been stalking the dogs in the back yard, but the dogs are so old they don't care.

I guess Texas didn't get the notice that there was a Freese warning Thursday and Friday night.

Skywatch Friday-One more game

I have been a Cardinal fan since I was a little kid and last nights game 6 of the World Series was the best game I have ever watched.  It's probably not a favorite for Rangers fans.   Game 7 tonight, I can only hope its as exciting.  My picture today is from Wednesday nights fall ball game.

The Terrell Tigers varsity football team travels to Lancaster tonight.  The Terrell Tribune takes a look at the game and what it means to some of the Tiger players going against their former coach.

Tagged out

The Rangers and Cardinals will try again tonight to play game 6 of the World Series.  Tonight is also the Terrell Citizens Police Academy class.  I don't know if I should watch for updates on my phone during class or DVR the game and not check the score. Skipping the class is not an option.   Hopefully, tomorrow night will be game 7.

The Terrell Thunder finished up fall ball last night hosting Royse City.  Tiger baseball will begin practicing at the end of January, but basketball practice has started.

I have been trying to get better at shots that are not sports related.

Thumbs up

In-N-Out burgers and fries animal style.  I would give both a thumbs up, but not something I would eat every day or even every week.  The newest In-N-Out opened in Rockwall last week at Ridge Rd & I-30 by Costco.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

Another busy sports weekend has ended.  Friday night started off wrong when the Tigers dropped a home contest against the Wrangers from West Mesquite 27-10.  The Tigers travel to Lancaster Friday night.  Lancaster will be without standout Demarcus Ayers who is out with an injury, Ayers played at Terrell last year.

Saturday morning we went to Texas A&M-Commerce for their homecoming game against Angleo State.  Joel Wren and Preston Paulson play at Commerce and are both Terrell graduates.  TAMC lost the game, but Joel tied for the team lead with 9 tackles.  Preston is a Freshman and did not see any game action.  I have an album from the game posted to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.

Another former Terrell Tiger Brashard Booker had his second interception of the year for Northwestern State in their 51-17 win over Southeastern Louisiana.

The BCS standings got a major shakeup when they came out last night.  I love upsets and Oklahoma and Wisconsin losing were great.

Sunday, Brian and I went up to Rockwall for a run.  I was hoping to run 10 miles, but I quit at 9.  I am training for the San Antonio Rock and Roll Half Marathon on November 13th.  I am also going to run a relay leg for a team at work in the Dallas White Rock Marathon.  My leg will be 6.5 miles.

The Cardinals and Rangers have split their first two games in Arlington and are tied 2-2.  The Cardinals only needed to win one in Texas, which they took care of Saturday night.  Tonight in Arlington, the Game 1 starters are back on the mound,  Carpenter vs Wilson.

Numbers:
Albert Pujols-3 home runs in one game.  Al Bundy once scored 4 touchdowns in one game.
New Orleans Saints......62 points?  Were they playing a school from the Football Championship Subdivision?
DeMarco Murray-253 rushing yards...Felix who?
and
Brice McCain-1 INT, 1TD,  former Terrell Tiger returns an interception for his first NFL TD.

Here are a few shots from Saturdays TAMU vs Angelo State game.

Best seats in the house?

I had an opportunity to go to the Texas A&M Homecoming game yesterday in Commerce, TX.  Terrell graduates Joel Wren and Preston Paulson are members of the Lions football team.  Joel is a Sophomore and one of the leaders of the defense and Preston is a Freshman.  The Lions lost the game against Angelo State.  Look for football photos tomorrow.

These seats are billed as be the best in the house.  Its look comfortable to me.

The effort was there

The Tigers came up short once again losing last night to West Mesquite 27-10.  The Tigers gave it everything they could.

All Tied up

Another great baseball game last night.  The Rangers were able to tie the series and now will have the next 3 games in Arlington, TX.

The Tigers host West Mesquite tonight.  The Tribunes Todd Jorgenson looks at tonights game and the challenges the Tigers have faced with a new coaching staff this year.  Tonight is also Hall of Fame night.  The Tribune profiles this years four inductees.

The NBA talk have broken off and there may be more games cancelled.  Memphis is looking at what I think is a good idea.

Last night was week 3 of the Terrell Citizens Police Academy.  My respect for what our officers do everyday continues to grow.  Last night we heard about CID and SWAT.

2011-2012 Terrell Lady Tigers basketball schedule

Game 1 to the good guys

Another shot of the boats out at White Rock Lake from a few weeks ago.

The In-N-Out in Rockwall, TX opens today.  I'll probably give it a try, but I hear that Whataburger is just as good or better.

The Cardinals are up 1 game to 0 over the Rangers.  Hopefully they go up 2-0 tonight! I admit it is hard to watch the Rangers lose though.  They are both favorite teams of mine.

It starts tonight

The St. Louis Cardinals vs the rangers in the World Series.   Today is team shirt day at work.  I have just the right Cardinal jersey to wear.

I posted this on Facebook the other night.  If you boil eggs, take them off before the water evaporates.  They will explode. I started with 6 eggs in a full pot of water.

Speaking of the tee-vee, I was on it last night. That's me on the left in the Aggies shirt watching Bob Harper and Sunny from the Biggest Loser.  Since I am a nerd, I took a picture of the screen.  Thank goodness I have lost some weight since the end of August.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

The Biggest Loser tonight

The Biggest Loser filmed a segment at Southern Junction in August.  Bob Harper was there with a contestant.  Brian, a couple of other friends and I were there to cheer Bob on as he rode the mechanical bull.  Look for us in the background.  I think I was wearing an Aggies T-Shirt.

There was a BBQ competition after the race on Saturday in Rockwall.  We didn't hang around for it, since we had just ran 6.2 miles.

Cardinals vs Rangers World Series

The Cardinals and Rangers have made it to the World Series.  I love that both teams have made it, but I am a Cardinal fan above all else.

Njyer Morgan, remember this?  Where still n 1st and I hope those crying birds injoy watching tha Crew in tha Playoffs!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!!  Enjoy watching the Cardinals in the playoffs.

The Tigers will try for their first district win on Friday at home against West Mesquite.  They were no match for the Corsicana Tigers losing 42-7. With Mesquite Poteet on a 3 game district losing streak, the Wranglers from West are in contention for the final playoff spot for District 15-4A along with Red Oak and Poteet.

The first BSC standings were released last night.  LSU vs Alabama and Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State should be fun games.

My fantasy team won yesterday.  It wasn't that my team did so well, but the team I was against had "now you see me, now you don't" Dez Bryant of the Cowboys.

Detroit coach Jim Schwartz needs to learn to accept losing or get out of the game.  He showed yesterday he can dish it out but cant take it.

I found out if you hard boil eggs while watching the Cardinal game and let the water boil out, the eggs will explode.

I add some of my photos from the State Fair of Texas on the Facebook page.  Give it a visit and hit the like button.

Saturday was the Rib Rub Run 10K in Rockwall. I finished in 1:05:55.  I'll take that time.   The course in Rockwall was a combination of two 5K courses I have ran before, so I knew what to expect.  There were a few hills, that are good for training.

No race this weekend.  We have something else planned that should be fun.

Vote NO

RIP Dan Wheldon

Nothing has changed on our street since last month.  So this will be a bonus post for Saturday.  The Terrell Tigers lost last night to the Corsicana Tigers.

Skywatch Friday-Early sunrise

Other Skywatch Friday sites are here.

The Tigers football team travels to Corsicana this evening for tough district contest against the Coriscana Tigers.  The Terrell Tribune has a preview of the match up.  I wont me making the trip to the game, today is my fair day.

Last night we got to tour the Terrell City police department and jail.  The city is in dire need of a replacement station and jail.  No one should have to work in those conditions.

Free hay available to producers in Terrell area today.

The Rangers and Cardinals both lost last night.

A good day

We woke up yesterday in Terrell to a nice rain shower.  By the end of the day the sun was shining and it was nice out.  By the end of the evening the Rangers beat the Tigers to go up 3-1 and the Cardinals defeated the Brewers to take a 2-1 lead.  The Rangers can close out the series this afternoon.  I heard a rumor that THS students and staff can wear jeans today along with a Rangers shirt, but don't take my word for it.  The Cardinals play this evening with a chance to go up 3 games to 1.

Today is UIL snapshot day. Schools turn in their official enrollment number for grades 9-12 to the UIL to determine the district alignments for 2012-2014.

White Rock Lake on an overcast Sunday morning.

The Rangers only need to win one game in Detroit.  No need to panic.

20FNK

Back to work today after taking yesterday off to recuperate from Sundays Lost Dog 20K race.  I finished faster than I even hoped for, 12.4 miles ran in 2:18:57.  My legs were a little sore, but I wasn't hurting as bad as I thought I would be.  We had rain Saturday night so the course was a little wet.  This photo is part of the spillway at White Rock Lake.

The 15th is the Rib Rub & Run 5K & 10K races in Rockwall.

Hurting would be a good work to use when describing my fantasy football team.  I'm off to a 1-4 start and all but out of it already.

The Tigers football team takes on the powerful Corsicana Tigers this Friday in Corsicana.  If you are looking for Terrell Homecoming pictures, Don C Johnson has a slew of them uploaded and available for purchase.  He also has high resolution photos from all games this year available.  Look around his site, you may find a shot you cant live without.

The Rangers are up 2-0 on Detroit.  It was a great ending to their game last night.  The Cardinals evened their series with the Brewers 1-1.  Albert Pujols led the Redbirds to a 12-3 win.

The NBA has cancelled the first two weeks of the regular season because of labor issues.  I would like to watch NBA basketball, but there's college and high school ball I can watch.  The NBA players are trying to rally support by using twitter.  Sorry Carmelo, LeBron and company, you make MILLIONS of dollars in one year with guaranteed contracts.  Don't cry to me.

College bowl projections haven't changed much for local schools or bowls.  SMU is still projected to go to the TicketCity Bowl.  A&M has moved back up to the Cotton Bowl.  TCU is projected to go to the Maaco Bowl in Las Vegas.  Las Vegas is a great city, but I bet they can't wait to get into the Big 12.  There could be as many as 5 undefeated FBS schools on selection day.  It will be interesting to see the BCS standings when they start releasing them.

I have never been a fan of the Florida Gators or Tim Tebow.  I never even watch the Gators play.  I didn't know Tebow was a lefty.  I may have to reconsider, the great leftys like us have to stick together......that's left handed for those of you that think politics first.

For years the Detroit game on Thanksgiving has always been the dog game.  Nobody cared who was playing.  Imagine this year, Thanksgiving Day, November 24th the 10-0 Detroit Lions host the 10-0 Green Bay Packers.  The night game so looks to be a good match up also, San Francisco vs Baltimore.  The dog game?  How about Dallas against Miami.

I dont really like the Packers, but I would certainly buy one or two shares of the them.  My Facebook profile would say NFL owner.

Hay!

Firefighter Challenge

A few more shots of the Scott Safety Firefighter Challenge held Saturday in Tyler. Two albums have been added to the Facebook page.  One of just the Forney team, and one of some of the other teams.

Forney Combat Challenge Relay Team

Yesterday was the Scott Safety Firefighter Combat Challenge in Tyler, TX.  Forney had a team entered, they were eliminated in the round of 8.  As I go through the photos there will be more posted to the Facebook page.

This one goes to the Jackrabbits

Forney put Terrell away early, spoiling Terrell's homecoming game.  Midway through the first quarter, the Tigers had ran only one offensive play and were losing 21-0.  The final was 56-6.

Before the game there were a couple of pee wee teams on the field.

Skywatch Friday-Evening sky

The clouds rolled in Wednesday night during the baseball game and as the sun was setting. More Skywatch Friday view from around the world can be found here.

Brian and I joined 5 other and attended first night of the Terrell Citizens Police Academy last night.  Its a weekly class that will  hopefully give us a better understanding of what the Terrell Police Department does, what it takes to be a police officer and assist the police after the class is over. I am looking forward to touring the jail, doing a ride along and firing a weapon

Tonight is the Tigers homecoming game, they will be playing the Forney Jackrabbits. Forney will be looking for payback from last years game. The Tigers won in Forney last year in overtime. The Terrell Tribune has a detailed preview of tonights game.

The ALCS is set.  The Rangers will take on the Tigers starting tomorrow at home.  Tonight we learn who will be in the NLCS.

Its TX/OU weekend at the State Fair of Texas.  I hope its a close game, but I have a feeling it may be a blow out.

Wednesday night baseball

The Cardinals came from behind last night and beat the Phillies 5-3 forcing a deciding game 5 Friday night.  The Diamondbacks forced a game 5 against the Brewers with a win last night, and the Tigers and Yankees play their game 5 tonight in New York.  My picks are Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Tigers.

Terrell's fall ball team traveled to Forney last night.

I never really liked Brett Favre. I guess his ego wont let him keep this mouth shut.

Bowl projections now have Northwestern vs SMU in the TicketCity Bowl.  Northwestern played in the inaugural game last year against Texas Tech.

The NHL opens their season tonight.  The Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues will both be looking to make it back into the playoffs.

Three days till the Lost Dog 20K at White Rock Lake.  The following weekend is the Rib Rub Run 10K in Rockwall.  We have signed up for the Theta 5K at SMU on November 5th.  The race benefits Dallas CASA.

Missouri wants to move to the SEC?  I like the thought, but I cant see them being very competitive in football down there. The SEC is tied to more attractive bowls though.

Evening play

The park is a busy place in the fall.  Last night I saw, softball, soccer, football and baseball all being played.

The Rangers took care of business last night and will wait for the winner of the Tigers/Yankees.  My Cardinals had every chance to beat the Phillies last night, but couldn't do it, losing 3-2.  They face elimination tonight in St. Louis.

The NBA preseason has been cancelled.  Could the regular season be next?  Reports are they don't even have any meetings set up and both sides are going to wait for the other to blink.  I hope when they come back they have fans to play in front of.  Both sides turn me off, and I can spend my money someplace else. It's been a while since I have been to a hockey game.

Are you a female who can break dance or tap and live in Terrell or Mesquite?  Here is an opportunity for you.  They are also looking for production people.

Choices

I have been trying to eat better, and that includes my snacks at work.  Instead of cheetos and cheez-its, its yogurt and grapes.  Instead of soda, its water.

Hopefully I have better results than the Rays did, choosing to pitch to Mike Napoli last night.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

Last Saturday was the Audie Murphy Hero 10K, this Sunday is the Lost Dog 20K at White Rock Lake.  The week after that is the Rib Rub Run 10K in Rockwall.  This is all has to be building up to something.

The Rangers split their first two playoff games with the Tampa Bay Rays.  I think they can take one back in Tampa and still win the series.  The Cardinals opened up in Philadelphia with a split.  I am hoping the Cardinals can win the next two at home.

I think the only team worse than my fantasy team is the Dallas Cowboys.

Great college games on Saturday.  If SMU keeps up their winning ways, they may end up in a bowl game other than the TicketCity Bowl.  They defeated TCU on Saturday and may be selected by the time the TicketCity bowl get to choose who they want.  Could there be a BYU vs SMU match up in the Armed Forces Bowl that will be played at SMUs Ford Stadium?  I watched Wisconsin thrash the Cornhuskers.  They have a great quarterback, who is fun to watch.  If Oklahoma slips up, the Badgers could sneak into BCS title game talk.  The way the Aggies have been playing they have gone from looking to play in Fiesta Bowl to the Cotton Bowl to maybe the Insight Bowl.

The Terrell Tigers will try to regroup before playing at home against Forney in the Homecoming game this Friday. I played around with taking some videos at the game Friday night.  You can see them on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.  I need some practice with the settings.  The Tigers do not play Ennis until the first week of November, hopefully, this issue will have died down.  We all need to at least read up on TB to avoid any concerns.

For those of you wondering, Jamie Foxx had a major curl not a Jheri curl when he was 17 and lived in Terrell.

Did you ever buy something, then a few days later see it advertised on Groupon at a steep discount?  So frustrating.

Have a good Monday.

Farmersville Car Show

Part of Old Time Saturday in Farmersville,TX yesterday was a car show.  I ran my fastest 10K time, finishing in 1:05:05 in the Audie Murphy Hero Run.
