Scooby Doo

Where are you?

The Terrell Animal Adoption Center has a Facebook page.  Find them here. They have dogs and cats available for adoption and all of their animals they adopt out to forever homes come with a microchip, vaccinations and spayed/neutered. The fee is only $80.  Look through this album and see who you can't live without.  'LIKE" their Facebook page to be in on all of their updates.

The Center is also hosting, along with Rockwall and Seagoville, a No Kill Adopt-A-Thon on October 19th & 20th at Ben Gill Park in Terrell.

Rangers win

I went to my 2nd ever Texas Rangers game last night.  They beat the Tampa Rays 6-5.  Last night we sat in the All You Can Eat section.

This isn't All You Can Eat

A little farther away, but this isn't it either.

This is it! Seats weren't that close, but good enough.  All You Can Eat included nachos, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwich, popcorn, peanuts and soda pop.

I had a ride along with the Terrell Police Department last night, so I was unable to watch the varsity football scrimmage.  I was able to watch a little of the freshman and JV teams.

Smile for the photo op

It doesn't matter how slow you are going or bad you feel. When you see someone with a camera you better start running and ham it up.  More runners having a blast at the Rebel Race Dallas on the Facebook page.

Rebel Race invades Forney

The Rebel Race is a  5K or 15K military style mud run. A heavy rain Friday night provided even more mud for the racers and everyone seemed to have a great time.  Here are a few pictures from the early waves.  More pictures are posted on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.  The race is billed as Rebel Run Dallas, but it was held at Cousins Paintball in Forney, TX.

The official photographer for the Rebel Race is Triathlete Photos.  Check their site in a few days for professional, quality photos from all of the waves.

Monday, I'll post some of the best poses from the early groups.

Tigers battle the Wildcats

After a week of hitting each other in pads the Tigers were able to set their sites on someone new last night at Memorial Stadium.  The Wildcats from Sulphur Springs traveled to Terrell to scrimmage the Tigers.  There was hard hitting and big plays from both teams, but since it was a scrimmage the final score doesn't matter.  The scrimmage was called a few minutes early when lightening observed in the area.

Close those eyes, you are about to get hit

Last Doctor visit

I went to see the orthopedic surgeon yesterday at Medical City Dallas.  My finger is healing great and I do not have to go back.  I will not miss the high five, traffic, the x-rays and the exam rooms.  Now if I can act my age and not like a 20 year old I should be ok.

Friday days football scrimmage between Sulphur Springs and Terrell has been moved up 30 minutes.  The Varsity is now scheduled to start at 6:30.  The scrimmage will be at Memorial Stadium.

There's a new cowboy on the rodeo circuit and hes from Terrell, TX. Tyler Wade, who just turned 20 in June, is in the top 15 in the PRCA World Standings for Team Ropers (headers). Tyler is on pace to win the Team Roping rookie of the Year and could be on his way to the National Finals Rodeo in December held in Las Vegas. Here is a link to the current standings.

Clayton Hass, also from Terrell, is currently in 17th place in the All-Around World Standings.  Great job by both cowboys.

No Rain

We heard thunder, saw the dark clouds and listened to the weatherman tell us the storm was on its way.  Then the storm collapsed and we got nothing.

The Tuesday night barrel series started last night at Wade Indoor Arena.  Follow them on Facebook for upcoming events.

First Monday

The 100 degree heat might have kept the crowds and vendors down this past weekend at First Monday in Canton.

Cilla Wichmann and the Terrell Pet Adoption Center were profiled last night on Dallas CBS TV.  It was a great story that hopefully will bring in people from outside the Terrell area to the Center. Watch the story below. You can find the Center on Facebook

Tacos and ice cream

Just a little building on the side of the road in Canton, TX.  They have the best $1 tacos.  I had the spicy pork.

A trip to Canton requires a stop an Ham Orchard on the way home for ice cream.  They close for the season next Sunday.

Results

Everyone wants to see the results.
Overheard at the board:
Where is my name?
Whats my time?
Did I win?
I beat you!
They got my name wrong.
I ran faster than that.
Move over up front.
Take a picture.
My best time ever!
Do you see you?

Don J moving on

Yesterday was Don Johnson's last day of work at the Terrell Tribune.  As Don put it, hes going from employed journalist to full-time independent photographer. I am sure we will be seeing him around cameras in tow.  Don can take photos of anything and make them look good.  My favorite are the action shots.  This picture won an award from NETPA.  Follow Don on his photography blog or Like his page on Facebook.
