The Scott Safety Firefighter Combat Challenge brought their competition to Greenville, TX on Friday and Saturday.  These are a few of the shots I got Saturday morning.  More pictures are posted to the Facebook page.

It's what's for dinner

Why is this tom cat licking his lips?  More Camera Critters.

Because once he finished playing with a grasshopper, he had it for dinner.

Dont forget to check out Daily Dog Photo.  Cilla is doing a great job posting daily on her new site.

Nike Radar Platform

I have posted shots of this before, but with a new road open, I was hoping to get a closer look.  Unfortunately, its fenced off and posted private property.  I have no desire to trespass.  In the 1960's Terrell was home to a Nike Missile Site.  The site has been cleaned up and besides a few cement pads this is about the only thing remaining.  There was a second site a mile or so away, but its private property and off the main road.

I saw the rain clouds across the street from the radar platform, but we didn't get any rain. It was 106 during our 2.7 mile run.

Koffee Kake has their website up and running. If you havent visited, what are you waiting for? Last Friday I tried the white chocolate raspberry cheescake. It tasted great.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

The year is zoomin by, its already the last week of July.

No break in the weather, the next 7 days will look like the last 7 days. Sunday was the 23rd day in a row over 100 degrees.

To help beat the heat, the Vagabond players will be performing "Dashing through the Snow" opening later this week in the Iris Theater located at Books and Crannies.

I am running a 10K on August 14th. The race is the Hottest Half & 10K at Norbuck Park.

High School football practice gets started in August. Terrell Tigers football season tickets go on sale August 1st. Click here for more information.

Hopefully, the NFL lockout will be over soon.  I am ready for a new fantasy football season to start.

August 19th (my Birthday) is the Taste of Terrell. This year its moving to the Terrell High School West cafeteria. Tickets are $10 and available at the Chamber of Commerce, American National Bank (Main) and at the door. Last years event was a huge success.

The Scott Kelby World Wide Photowalk was pushed back this year. The final date hasn't been announced by they are looking at the first weekend in October. We are looking for ideas on where to have our walk this year. The past two years, we walked downtown Terrell and the Griffith Homeplace. If you have a suggestion send me an email, jimklenke@terrelldailyphoto.com.

This is just strange.  A car dealership in Rockwall had 140 wheels stolen off of new cars and suvs.  The dealership moved from Terrell up to Rockwall a few years ago.  I bet nothing like that ever happened to them in Terrell.

Skywatch Friday-No Change

Farm house

I would love to have a house like this one. It needs some work, but I bet its neat inside.  I like the spiderman drapes in the second floor middle window.  I wonder how  much it costs to run the window A/C units?

Cool water

Think cool thoughts and maybe it will help take your mind off of the sun hitting the back of your neck when you walk outside. Today is another theme post. Its Watery Wednesday.

Barn Charm

It's been a while since I joined Tricia's Barn Charm.  This is one of the many barns that dot IH-35 between Dallas and Austin.  Visit her site to see the other participating sites.

Ham Orchards made the national news last night.  Lynette, who posts at Portland (OR) Daily Photo alerted me to a report on the CBS Evening News last night about the drought we are in the middle of.  Dale Ham was interviewed about this years peach crop.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

Saturday morning before we made our way to New Braunfels, we walked over to the Alamo. What caught my eye was this group filming something. I could only make out them saying welcome to San Antonio. Of course I had to walk behind them while they were working and wave my hands in the air.

The Kaufman 7 on 7 football team made it to the Division II Quarterfinals where they lost to the eventual champion Melissa by one point.  The Terrell Tigers host the Lions from Kaufman in the first game of the year  on August 26th.  The Tigers begin practice in just over two weeks.

Cilla has started a new photo blog called Daily Dog Photo.

No races for the next few weekends.  Unless something shows up on the Run On Texas calendar, the next race will be the Melon Dash 5K in McKinney on August 6th.

There's going to be a triathlon on August 21st at Lake Tawakoni, its the 2nd half of the Spring Fall Classic .  It may be a good photo taking opportunity.

The USA Woman's soccer team didn't win the World Cup, but they had a great tournament and you have to be happy for Japan.

Bricks are being put into place at the Terrell Veterans Memorial.

The DFW area has been over 100 degrees for 16 straight days. The 7 Day forecast from WFAA doesnt look like we are going to get a break anytime soon.

Me @ Alamo Beer Challenge, San Antonio

Riverwalk at night

No trip to San Antonio would be complete without a trip to the Riverwalk.

The reason for the quick trip to SA was the Alamo Beer Challenge Race #1.  It was a 5K & 10K race Friday night.  Brian and I ran the 5K race.  It was a fun course through a park.  I heard there were over 800 runners registered (and one person who was in front of me who said he wasnt paying, thanks bud.) for both races.  Times were slow, but the course was only about 12' wide.  Still fun though.  This is the first of four races that are suppose to help you train for the Rock and Roll Marathon in San Antonio held in November.  I dont think I will be doing the RnR.  Brian has signed up for the half marathon.  Race # 2 is on August 13th.  That race will be 8K & 15K.  Results and pictures from race #1 are at www.iaapweb.com.

Something stinks

This is disgusting. People in Terrell know where this is. Why doesn't the owner clean it up?

It was Too Hot

Over 1900 runners took part in the 5K & 15K yesterday morning in the annual running of Too Hot to Handle at Norbuck Park.

It was hot when it started but not HOT.  It was HOT when I finished.  New this year are greeters handing out ice cold towels to all of the finishers.

This isn't a race to run for a good time because of the heat and the number of runners, but I did cut 2 minutes off of my time from last year.  Its not like I would be contending for a medal anyway.

Below is one of the 15K finishers who just crossed the finish line getting one of those ice cold towels.  I have posted a few more pictures from the 2011 Too Hot to Handle on my Facebook page. If its your first time to the Facebook page, make sure you 'like' it before you leave.

Last night we went to Southern Junction in Rockwall, Bob Harper was there filming Biggest Loser 12.  We were told no pictures, since the season is in the middle of filming, so no pictures.

Take a minute to visit www.ihigh.com/terrelltigers

What a comeback by the USA Woman's soccer team yesterday.  On to the semis.

You're on candid camera

Everyone had a good time waiting for the fireworks Monday night.

I made my new 2011 Terrell Tiger football schedule. Its a little better than the one I did last year, but still could use some work. I'm going to make it my desktop at work.  Chick over to www.ihigh.com/terrelltigers for Tiger news and pictures.

The Kaufman 7 on 7 football team has again qualified for the State 7 on 7 Tournament in College Station.

A big bang

The Terrell Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City of Terrell presented their annual fireworks show last night in Ben Gill Park.  As usual it was an awesome show.  I think this year was one of the biggest yet and I would put it up against any of the big city fireworks displays anytime.  Check out the album on Facebook for more pictures and please take a minute to click over the www.ihigh.com/terrelltigers for Tiger news.

Happy 4th

Sweet and sour

Last month Brian and I ran races in Dublin, TX, part of the 125th birthday celebration of Dublin, Dr. Pepper.  Dublin Dr. Pepper is made with real pure cane sugar.

This past week Dr. Pepper Snapple filed a lawsuit against DDP for a variety of reasons, but mainly because they are selling outside what their franchise agreement allows.  I am sure it will be settled out of court with the corporate giant squeezing the family owned business out of some money.

Have a few Dublin Dr. Peppers for the 4th.

Pictures from the Trustees softball game Thursday night.  More pictures are posted on the Facebook page.  The Trustees won the game 11-1.

Its a new month, please visit the Terrell Tigers iHigh page.  The more visitors the page gets the money the Terrell Athletic Booster Club can get.  Visitors are counted monthly, so you only need to visit once a month.
