Terrell at night

Notice Santa hanging from the window? The Vagabond players will be performing Dashing thru the Snow this weekend and next weekend.

Dont forget to check out Daily Dog Photo.  Cilla is doing a great job posting daily on her new site.

Colors at night

I like the way the color turns out on this Church just around the corner from my house.

I have a feeling that there will be more than just Coach Gilbert and staff moving to Lancaster High School.

One day soon I am going to drive around Terrell and take pictures of all of the Subway sandwich shops.  I think we have 5 of them with 2 more on the way.

I've been watching the new ABC show Off the Map.  I'm liking it, but it sure is graphic.

Fridays temperature is now suppose to push 70 degrees.  Sounds like a great day for baseball practice.

Night Lights

Night time pictures are my favorite to shoot after sports pictures. You always can always get something neat. This is traffic including a tow truck on SH34. If you enlarge the picture you can see the stars out on a clear cold night.

Sometimes a steady hand is needed

This is Ben Gill Park last night.  You can see by the burry picture that I didn't have my tripod with me.  I usually try to set the camera on a bench or table to steady it, but last night I was out of luck.  You can also see how unsteady my hand it by the airplane lights on the right side of the picture.

The Herman Furlough Jr basketball tournament starts today.  First game is 2:30 at the TISD Complex.  Check yesterdays post for the complete bracket.

Skywatch Friday-After the storm

We had a storm pass through Terrell on Wednesday. Once it past the sky cleared up and it was a nice night.

For other Skywatch Friday sites click here.

I have two other pictures from Ben Gill Park on Wednesday posted to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page in the Ben Gill Park album. Click the link to the right and join me on Facebook.

The Tigers boys basketball team is home tonight to take on the Lancaster Tigers. Lancaster is the #2 ranked Class 4A team in the state of Texas.

Almost

Boise State made the plays to win the game. TCU had a great season, but just fell short of the mark.

This is looking through my car window as it was warming up early in the morning. It's suppose to get cold in the next few days.......but it's a dry cold.

Skywatch Friday-Post # 1000 Christmas

Today is post #1000 for Terrell Daily Photo. Terrell got a little bit of snow yesterday and last night, Merry Christmas.

By the end of the night we had a light dusting of snow.

Looking up at the sky and taking a picture of snow isn't that good of an idea. So I tried to find a dark background.

View other Skywatch Friday sites here.

If you have an extra minute, please vote in my poll for the best picture of the year for Terrell Daily Photo. Two of the choices were Skywatch Friday posts.

Ben Gill Park at night

Another shot from the night time trip to Ben Gill Park in Terrell. No photo shop or alterations to the picture, just playing with the white balance setting.

CNN sent out breaking news Saturday night to announce the Cowboys defeated the Saints. It was breaking because the Saints hopes to go undefeated had ended. But, the Cowboys winning in December also deserves breaking news status.

This may come in handy for Nick Folk.

I need a little bit of help tonight to advance to my Fantasy Football Final.

Short week at work, in addition to having Christmas off, our employer has given Christmas Eve off.

Christmas day will post #1000 for Terrell Daily Photo.

Out for a walk

The streets were pretty empty last night.

My coworkers are having a spread tomorrow for lunch. Since I can burn water, I thought I better get someone else to cook for me. I ordered a Mexican Chicken Spaghetti from Koffee Kake. I am told it's really good. I'll have my own review tomorrow night.

The evil empire lost last night....good....not that I watched or really care.

Peter Coin Laundry

Remember those late night laundry trips? Couldn't do it during the day because you were either working or it was always packed? Its getting dark so early, I am finding myself either going out after dark to get pictures or take them on weekends.

Greenery revisited

I posted this same area on June 17th.

This picture was taken last night.

I drove through Ben Gill Park last night at 7PM just before I took today's picture. The park was full as usual this time of year with pee wee football practice. The kids were practicing in almost complete darkness. Makes me think the comments on this story deserve to be addressed.

My fantasy football team took another loss, this week was expected, I had Peyton Manning on bye. I am now at .500 for the season, 3-3.

My NFL picks didn't turn out that much better. I ended up going 8-6. For the year I am 59-31.
I am really diggin the Broncos, the throwback uniforms are awesome, rookie coach Josh McDaniels is the early favorite for coach of the year and they guy is only 33 years old. Quarterback Kyle Orton couldnt even start in Chicago and now his team is 6-0. Fantastic start for Denver. Makes me wonder when this guy is going to change the name of his blog.
I guess he changed it last night after the win.
I still haven't read up on the Constitutional amendments that we are voting for.

At the car wash

Not quite the same thing as the movie from the 70's, (a classic) but the car wash was busy last night even after it got dark.

Exciting weekend if you are a football fan. Terrell lost a thriller to Red Oak Friday night, the Texas Longhorns defeated OU on Saturday and the NFL gave us some great games yesterday.

Even though the Tigers lost Friday night, they are still ranked #20 in the DFW area for 4A schools.

Early voting starts today in Texas for Constitutional amendments. I didn't see the ballot number for requiring an ID to vote or to allow casino gambling in Texas. Maybe next time.

Football Friday night

A few more shots taken at the football game Friday night, Terrell against Mabank. Terrell won a thrilling game 27-20. Terrell has a bye this week then goes on the road to play Red Oak. I will be looking forward to Cliffs preview in the Tribune and his take on Red Oaks surprising start to district play. Cliff provides the best coverage of all sports in the Terrell Tribune.

These shots all feature the Mabank Panthers.

Beautiful moon tonight

A couple of days ago I posted a shot of the almost full moon on automatic settings. Jacob gave me an assignment to try for the full moon using manual settings. Below are the results. I wanted to get the shot Friday night, but it was overcast all night.

Click the picture to enlarge.

I know others have taken better shots of the moon, but I am pretty proud of mine. I love the detail.

College football season started today. Great start for the University of Texas, not so good for Oklahoma.

Be sure to check the side bar, details on the Kaufman County Ghost Walk and the Flights of our Fathers Fly-In.

D60 Moon

I know this is just a simple shot of an almost full moon, but its the first one where I have been able to make any detail out on the moon. This was taken with my D60 on automatic setting at sunset with no flash. Imagine how good it can look once I learn how to use my camera.

Made it through day 30 of P90X. I checked the pictures from day 1 and today, and I can see a difference. Only 60 more days to go.

Stayed up late again last night, this time listening to the new music from Whitney Houston. Tonight I go to bed early.

I am still thinking about applying for this.

Terrell residents have an opportunity to learn more about their city at the Terrell Citizens University.

Scheduled for this fall, the University is designed to promote citizen awareness of City of Terrell government services and a working knowledge of City processes and procedures.

Classes will include a tour of City facilities and sessions on growth management, retail, leakage analysis, City government & public safety, code enforcement and more. Classes will be held at the City of Terrell Service Center at 400 Industrial Blvd. from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings.

The application deadline is September 25.

I really was never into this movie growing up, and I hate to admit it, but as I get older I am starting to like it. Youth is wasted on the wrong people.

Theme day-Night

This theme day should have been easy for me. I love taking night shots. But put on the spot, it's hard to find something I like.

This is the First United Methodist Church in Terrell. I didn't notice when I was taking the picture, but you can see the lights from two jets that were crossing the sky. You may need to click on the picture for a larger view to see them.

Click here to view thumbnails for all Theme Day participants

I finally selected a winner to represent Terrell in the world photo walk contest. Laurie Black's Reflections of Terrell is the winner. Follow the link, scroll down the page to the photos, her photo is in the upper left hand corner.

We pulled for draft positions in my fantasy football league. Its a 12 team league, I got pick number 6. We are looking for one more person to join. If interested email terrelldailyphoto@hotmail.com for details.

Skywatch Friday-blue skies, sort of

The wet weather this week has given us some unusual skies.

Today is Skywatch Friday. For other skies from around the world click here.

I will email the Photo Walkers today with the winning photo from Terrell. All of the entries are worthy of being picked, but I can only pick one. If your picture was not picked, I am sorry.

Abandoned building

This is the old north campus of Medical Center at Terrell. The building is for sale and has been empty for a while. Is that a light on in the window? Answer at the bottom of the post.

Click the picture to enlarge.

August 1st is Monthly Theme Day in the City Daily Photo world. The theme is NIGHT, after sports, my favorite type of shot. I have been out after dark scouting spots for a good shot for the 1st. I liked this one, but its not Theme day material

I am close to picking a winner for the Terrell Photo Walk.

So Brett Farv-ra is going to stay retired. Big Deal.

When I was growing up I listened to all types of music. Hall and Oates was a favorite of mine. I saw them in concert with ELO and I am not ashamed to admit they were great. Live From Daryl's House is Daryl Halls online music show, this month he brought Plain White T's to his farm. Give the Plain White T's a listen then check out the past shows.

I keep getting emails for free hotel rooms in Las Vegas........

More heavy rain today? Looks like it.

We draw for draft positions in my fantasy football league today.

That's not a light in the window it is the tail light of a car reflecting in the window.
