Late night regrets

The drive thru always sounds good late at night.  But after finishing a #3 large combo it doesn't feel so good trying to get to sleep.

The 2011 Terrell Tigers baseball team takes the field tonight at Ben Gill Park for their first game that counts.  Garland Lakeview Centennial will send their varsity squad here, first pitch is scheduled for 6PM.  The Tiger JV team will travel to Garland and their first pitch is 5PM.

The Lady Tigers softball team hosts Poteet today at 4:30PM

Tigers soccer hosts Poteet at Memorial Stadium, game time is set for 7PM

Vote for my photo on ihigh.  You can vote more than once.  I said yesterday I was photo #222.  The link is 222 but my photo is #223. I don't have a chance to win, it looks like some photos are getting over 100 votes an hour, and one photo got over 40,000 votes since last night (nothing fishy there, lol).  But its still nice to know people will vote. You can also visit the Terrell iHigh page.  We always could use the visitors.

I have a 5K race this week, its part of the Cowtown Marathon.  They also run a 10K that Brian will be running.  The race calender is starting to fill up for the Spring.  The Fountain 5K organizers need to get on the ball if they are going to have a run in Terrell during the Jubilee.  There are already over a half dozen races scheduled for that day, including one in Rockwall.

Monthly Street

I have committed to taking a picture of my street on the same day every month. Last months photo can be found here.  We had snow and sleet yesterday morning, but it was gone by the end of the day when I got my picture.  You really cant see it in todays picture, but the trees on the right have been trimmed to stay clear of the electric lines.

Today is scheduled to be the last day to apply for the Athletic Director/Head Football Coach job for Terrell ISD.

The soccer games scheduled for tonight have been pushed back.  The postponement of tonights nights games sets up a showdown Friday night in Kaufman for the Lady Tigers soccer team.  Kaufman and Terrell are both off to 2-0 starts in district play.  The Lady Tigers have an overall record of 10-3-1.

I got screened

Friday afternoon almost 40 Terrell area residents took advantage of the Health Mart Healthy Living Tour and got screened for diabetes. In addition to the diabetes screening, they also provided blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose testing.

Since I am the type of person who only goes to the doctor when I get hurt or have a pain, this was perfect for me. The tests only take about 5 minutes, and thankfully mine came back fine.

There are over 2800 Health Mart Pharmacies across the country, only 120 were selected to get a visit by the Healthy Living Tour. The Terrell Health Mart pharmacists greeted people with snow cones and snacks and were available to answer any questions. The Terrell Health Mart is located at 642 N Rockwall St. in Terrell.

The tour continues next weekend at the North Texas State Fair in Denton. Check the tour schedule to see when they stop in your area.

Pizza Pizza

What do you do when you are knocked down by a killer migraine and its a week till payday? Get Pizza Pizza.

We found this baby squirrel outside work Tuesday. Its hard to see it, but this thing was maybe 5 inches long. This was taken with the camera in my new phone.

I thought the Rangers were going to pull out a win last night, almost. It sounds like there were way too many Yankees fans in the ballpark last night. We have to put up with Red Wings fans at hockey games, Steelers fans at football games and I guess Yankees fans at ball games.

Maybe I need to go BTS. I got a flyer in the mail for a BTS sale. It took me 10 minuets to figure out what BTS stood for.

The Cowboys are on channel 11 tonight, regular programming (Big Brother) is on channel 21. I have to remember to make sure the DVR is set.

Rain is behind us

Our mini cool front and wet weather has passed. The clouds were dark yesterday but in town we didn't get any rain. The National Weather Service forecasts a small chance of rain today. The temperature will be climbing over 100 starting Friday and lasting through at least next Wednesday. Summer is back.

When I first joined the City Daily Photo family back in 2007, there was a photographer who had a pay-pal account set up asking for people to contribute to her trip to Paris. I think she had collected $30, which probably was from her Mom. Not sure how far that $30 got her.

I am really wanting to go to Austin for the swearing in of the Texas Legislature in January 2011, but there is no way I can afford it.

See where I am going?

I am going to be posting a pay-pal account for donations to help me get to Austin. I know I can count on you for only $10......... How about $5?......How about $1 and the name of a good place to eat in Austin?

Staying hydrated

We have been running 4 or 5 days a week. I am trying to build up to running a 5k without having to walk any of it. Since we can't have a water station on the course we laid out, we have to improvise. At the end of a 1.7 mile loop we take a break for water that we try to keep out of the direct sun. The only problem is we have to stop running to take a drink. Not sure that helps my running without walking or stopping.

We got our run in last night after the rain. We got .25 inches yesterday afternoon, lets hope we get a little more rain today.

I don't think something like whats going on in Bell, CA. could happen here, at least I hope it couldn't happen. Are cities in California required to post budgets online? People complain in Terrell, Texas about how tax money is spent, but they at least have the option to view and comment on the City budget. Here is the budget for 2009-2010 for Terrell. You like the picture on the cover?

I need to quit complaining about going to garage sales.

The Terrell Photo Walk Flickr group has over 225 pictures posted. Is there a winner in the bunch?

Memo to CBS: Enough of the Brandon and Rachel show. Big Brother is turning into Big Bore.

I have a 5K this Sunday, but my running this week has been a chore. I cant seem to get it together. I hope I can at least finish in under 35 minutes.

Hot in Terrell, TX.

Yesterday the temperature was over 100 degrees in Terrell for the 3rd day in a row. Not sure what the "feels like" temperature was, but I know it "feels like" HOT.

At 6AM Tuesday morning its already 80 degrees.

This is a view looking north on the new portion of highway 34 in Terrell. We have it measured that one round trip is 1.7 miles. Brian is pretty good at running the loop, I try to jog it.

This was taken yesterday afternoon. Its impossible to see in the picture, but when the picture was taken the sun was out and it was raining.

We do have a chance for a rain shower on Wednesday.

Train stations

I have mentioned the Facebook group You know You're From Terrell When........before. Its a wonderful page with lots of memories from people that grew up in Terrell, Texas. One of the discussions is about old railroad stations. I know the first picture is the old freight depot that ran East/West. Is the second photo an old freight depot also that ran North/South? Maybe someone from the group can help me out.

I know the old passenger station was demolished some time ago.

Don't forget to visit the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page and hit the "like" button.

Time to go home yet?

Just hanging around.

Quite a few activities going on this weekend in and around Terrell.

The Tigers will host Midlothian Saturday in a non-district baseball game.

Tanger Outlet is holding a Cruzin for a Cure car show Saturday.

The Rowlett Exchange Club is hosting a kite fest in Elgin B. Robertson park in Rowlett also on Saturday.

Anything else going on in the area, put it up on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.

Early voting starts Monday for Mayor of Terrell. Go vote to re-elect Hal Richards. I think he deserves another term.

Feeling brittle

Running every day this week is taking a toll on my knees. They are not painful, but they are sore.

Madness in March

Yesterday the high in Terrell was 74 degrees. The temperature has been dropping all day, tonight it is expected to drop to 32 degrees and a chance of snow flurries.

Rail and run

This is the rail road that runs through Terrell on the south side of Moore.

Come out to Terrell on April 17th for the inaugural running of the Fountain 5K & walk. Details are here.

Contrast

There was a lot of talk yesterday on Facebook about what year this car was. I think it was decided its a 56 Chevy.

Brian has a nice car on his site, thats not quite as old. Which one would you take?

My vote counted

I early voted yesterday after work. Its only the party primaries, but many of the Kaufman County races are decided in the primary.

The Terrell Tribune must be swimming in ad money from so many candidates running for office.

Today's snow will probably keep the Terrell Tigers from kicking off the 2010 baseball season tonight in Crandall.

I didn't get a chance to link to this yesterday, but here is the
complete tournament schedule for the Benny Jones Classic baseball tournament that starts Thursday in Desoto.

I was reading the police report in Sundays print edition of the Terrell Tribune and I noticed Dexter Deshun Ward was arrested in the 1900 block of West Moore Aveune, theft less than $1500 with two or more previous convictions. Same person as the American Idol reject?

After reading the police report, I read this letter to the editor from Mr and Mrs. Denny Fraze.

Monday Morning Mashup

The freezing temperatures are suppose to end soon. Today's high should be mid 50s, and then just one more night of below freezing temperatures. A welcome break from freezing all weekend.

I watched all four NFL playoff games. The only game that had any excitement was the Green Bay vs. Arizona game last night. In the Eagles/Cowboys game, Romo looked great and McNabb looked old.

Do you think they can get 50,000 in Cowboys Stadium for a boxing match? Bob Arum and Jerry Jones think so.

The Terrell Lady Tigers are home Tuesday night against Red Oak and on the road Friday night against Mesquite Poteet. The boys are on the road Tuesday against Red Oak and home Friday night against Mesquite Poteet.

I am already tired of politics and the "season" is just beginning.

The Warrior Dash in Forney on May 1, 2010 sounds like fun. Not to compete, but to photograph.
Jay Leno moving back to late night is fine by me, I won't watch him there either.

This looks and sounds unappetizing. Like something you would make at 2AM after getting home from a night out and you have nothing in the fridge. It sounded good while you were making it, then you wake up and see it sitting on the table with one bite gone, yuck.

A Monday Bonus later today, and join the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page for more weekend pictures from Ben Gill Park.

Through the fisheye

I messed around taking a bunch of photos with my new fisheye lens adapter.

Brian has a post up about the Christmas Tour of Homes that was Saturday.

How about them Dallas Cowboys? First game in December, and they do what they do best, lose.

The Texas Longhorns made it to the BCS Championship game against Alabama. Seems like everyone outside of Austin wanted the Longhorns to lose Saturday night. I am happy they didn't.

TCU gets a match up with Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. I would have liked to see TCU against Florida in the Sugar, but BSU is my second choice. It can be the Championship for the little guys. Two BCS games with all four teams unbeaten.

Mississippi did get the invite to the Cotton Bowl against Oklahoma State. Mississippi has quite a few players with Texas ties, including Gerald Harris from Terrell, who has been selected to also play in the The Pro Football Hall of Fame Texas vs. the Nation Challenge.

Happy Thanksgiving

This was taken last year on Thanksgiving day around noon. A squirrel wanted to have transformer for lunch causing our block along with a few others to lose power for the afternoon. Lets hope today goes smoother than last year.
