Summer time
What better way to spend a summer evening than in the park watching a softball game. I think these people were waiting for their game to start.

Smile
It seems everyone was taking pictures on the 4th. I wanted to get a shot of the flags on the pavilion along with the large drums and I got this one. I like the lady and young child posing for the picture in front of one of the flags.

Brian has an interesting post for today, hop over and check his photo out.

Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra
Fridays 4th of July festivities included a performance by the Northeast Texas Symphony Orchestra. I have tried to find information about them on the internet but have been coming up empty. Best I can gather is they are a group of 60 professional musicians who come from Paris, TX to Dallas, TX. and all areas in between. I have only been to the Dallas Symphony once. It was a casual Friday performance (that means I could wear jeans). I wasn't expecting much from NETSO, but they are very good. If you have a chance to go hear them play, do it. If anyone has any additional information about the orchestra please feel free to leave it in the comments.

The blooming crepe myrtles made for a beautiful backdrop.

The quality is not very good, but here is a short clip of the orchestra performing Hello Dolly.
A second longer clip is available on the you tube link to the right.

Just a couple more fireworks
Did I ever say how much I love Monday mornings? I didnt think so.
Just a few more fireworks pictures to share.
I love the way the ground was lit up from the blast.

Here is part of the finale. I uploaded a clip on you tube of a portion of the fireworks show. Click on the you tube link on the right. The fireworks show alone is worth the drive to Terrell from Dallas or Collin County. Tomorrow pictures of the North East Texas Symphony Orchestra.

Bang up 4th
Ben Gill park hosted the Terrell Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Celebration. The weather was perfect and the crowd was large. I got down there early, listened to the North East Texas Symphony Orchestra then got my spot for the fireworks. I really like the way the fireworks and the symphony photos turned out. So, guess what you get pictures of for the next week?

Other towns in the Metroplex have their own fireworks shows, but I would put Terrells show right up there with the big boys. The Chamber does a awesome job putting this on.
I added a couple of clip to You Tube. Click on the link to the right to see whats new.

Ben Gill Park fun
Another shot of the guys playing softball Tuesday night at Ben Gill Park. You need to click on the picture to get a better view. I ended up watching a little of all of the games going on that night. I forgot how much fun it is. I think this was a Church league playing.

I am having problems with City Daily Photo loading from my home computers. It works fine from work, anyone have any ideas? The page will load, I can see it for a second, then it goes to a white screen. I have two computers and it does it on both. No problems with any other websites I visit.
UPDATE: It looks like I am not the only person having the City Daily Photo problem. Until the problem is corrected, you can still type the name of a city in the box to the right to reach another City Daily Photo site.

Are you eyeballin me?

Ben Gill Park, Terrell, Texas
The park is a great place to play ball, walk, run, watch a softball or soccer game, have a picnic or watch the ducks, birds and turtles swim in the pond. The park hosts Terrells annual Forth of July celebration.

Last of the tractors
As promised here are the last of the pictures from the tractor show held last weekend. Seems other things kept bumping this.
I had to put this one first. Not sure if its a ladies tractor or the wife got mad at her husband and figured this was the best way to fix his wagon. I like it though, nice colors.

Doesnt look like there is much to this tractor.
Anyone know what those big steel plates are used for?
I think I saw Kenny Chesney on this one.

Not a tractor, but without this, there would have been no way to get your crops to town.

Thresher demonstration
Continuing with photos from the Tractor and Engine show. This is part of the thresher, its the grain after its separated from the straw. I added a you tube clip of the thresher in motion. Click on the you tube link on the sidebar.

While the demonstration was going on, the belt slipped causing the machine to have to be stopped and the belt fixed. I cant imagine having to do this for a living. I think my job is hard now.
I have another post lined up for Wednesday. On Thursday, I will post the remaining tractor pictures.

A few more from the tractor and engine show
These ladies made sure everything ran smoothly. They sold merchandise, raffle tickets (I lost) and pointed everyone in the right direction.

Looks like I was hit with the spam comments. I regret I am going to turn on the word verification.

Antique Tractor and Engine Club
The North Texas Antique & Engine Club made their annual stop in Terrell this weekend. Pictured is an antique McCormick-Deering threshing machine. Grain is fed into the machine and separated into the wheat and straw. They fired this baby up and showed everyone what it does. I will post a few more pictures of this machine and others on display over the next few days.

The picture was taken this morning about 10:30am. Check out how clear the sky is today. I am off to do something fun.

Antique tractor and engine show

This weekend is the Antique tractor and engine show at Ben Gill Park. This is an annual event in Terrell, but this will be my first time going. What time can I expect to see everyone?
Kaufman County Online has information concerning the funeral procession for Spc. Jonathon Emard. I contacted the Terrell Marketing Center this morning and verified the processions will be on Moore Ave between the streets listed in the story. I am going to try to pay my respects tomorrow or Friday.

Mayor Richards runs the Sugar Rush 5K
One of the sponsors of the Sugar Rush 5K was the City of Terrell. One of the participants in the race was Terrell Mayor Hal Richards.
Mayor Richards posed for photos with Debbie before the start of the race.

Was all smiles at the start of the race.

Crossing the finish line and ready to run another 5K........but maybe not today.

Way to go.

Tiffany Orshalick and Debbie Weiss

The Sugar Rush 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run held Saturday in Terrell was to benefit the Deborah Kay Foundation for colon cancer research. All proceeds were going to be donated to the National Cancer Institute to provide colon cancer research and awareness. To read more about the Foundation visit their website from the link on the sidebar.
Todays picture is of Tiffany Orshalick and her Mother Debbie Weiss. Tiffany created the Deborah Kay Foundation as a way to honor her mother, who is a colon cancer survivor. Tiffany did an excellent job organizing the race and appropriate it was held on Mothers Day weekend.

Deborah Kay's Sugar Rush 5K Race, Terrell, Texas
Saturday morning Ben Gill Park in Terrell played host to the Sugar Rush 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run. It was a great turnout, I would guess about a 100 runners and walkers, it was for a great cause and it looked like everyone had a great time. I will be posting more pictures of the race of the next few days.

Last Tiger baseball photos of the season......
honest...... I am sure everyone is tired of my baseball shots by now.

I think the last one is one of my favorites. It catches a runner running to first and another runner coming home.
By the time next baseball and softball season starts I hope to be a much better photographer.
Sorry, had to add one more.

Safe or out?
Was this runner safe or out at first base?

Visit More Terrell Photos for the answer. Terrell lost the game 3-2 and dropped the game Tuesday night to finish the season. They ended up losing more than they won, but they are a young team and will be better next year.
