Terrell Veterans Memorial Dedication
The inscription on the memorial:
Fallen But Not Forgotten
The Marine Corps League Detachment #1338 and the City of Terrell established this memorial on 30 May 2011 to honor all the brave men and women who have proudly served in the United States armed forces and to memorialize all who gave their lives protecting freedom around the world.
THIS MEMORIAL WAS CREATED TO HONOR ALL VETERANS
Who have made the ultimate sacrifice who have served and were fortunate enough to return home and our current veterans who have answered the call and currently protect our nation may this memorial remind future generations and our community that freedom is not free it is the sacrifice of the men and women of our community and our nation that provides the freedom in which we enjoy
LEST WE FORGET
The memorial includes the names of casualties from Terrell in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. It also includes the casualties of the British Flying Training School who died while training in Terrell during World War II.
Special guests included the families of the five soldiers killed in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Speakers were Terrell Mayor Hal Richards, US Congressman Jeb Hensarling, Former State Rep Betty Brown, Marine Corps League Commandant Mike White and the Guest Speaker was World War II veteran James Lovell.

Following the dedication, the Boy Scouts retired two flags. I'll have a few photos of that ceremony tomorrow.

Wet weather on the way
Those of us in North Texas enjoyed beautiful weather for the Labor Day weekend. That's about to change, the forecast calls for rain beginning today through Thursday due to tropical storm Hermine.
Pictures are posted to Facebook from Friday nights football game between Terrell and Greenville. Click the link to the right. My photos today are the Tigerettes lined up to cheer the Tigers onto the field and during their halftime performance. Friday I'll try to get some of the band.
The Terrell Tigers are ranked #18 this week by the Dallas Morning News. Mesquite Poteet, who visits Terrell this Friday night, is ranked #15. Seven of the nine teams in district 15-4A are ranked this week.
Here is some interesting information about a couple of Tigers. Not sure how accurate it is though.

This weekend is shaping up to be a busy one. Saturday morning is the Rib, Rub and Run 5K in Rockwall.
Saturday afternoon is the First Baptist Church Outdoor Expo.
All day Saturday and Sunday is the EEast Texxas Jamm at East Texas Choppers, 15 bands in 2 days. Tickets are $10 for both days, proceeds from ticket/raffle sales go to the Terrell Veterans Memorial Park fund.
You don't have to attend the Jamm to contribute to the Veterans Memorial Park. Make a donation, purchase a brick paver, sponsor a bench, emblem or other options here.
