I am sure everyone has heard about the 11 year old girl from Forney, TX who won a contest to be  Mayor for a day.  Her first order of business was to rename Main St. to Justin Bieber Way.  SO, since Forney is just next door, we had to drive over and get a picture.  If you haven't heard the story, just Google, Justin Bieber Forney.

Getting the picture wasn't easy, I had to shoo away Grandmas and little girls with bows in their hair.  As cars passed by, the drivers would shake their head in disgust.  But, I got my picture.         You can throw up now.

7 on 7 football week 2

Terrell had better results last night in week 2 of the 7 on 7 passing league. In the first game the scored on the final play of the game to salvage a tie against Kaufman. In the second game, Forney B scored first to take a 7-0 lead. Terrell then scored the next 45 points to win easily 45-7. Terrell is now 2-1-1.

Lady Tigers soccer

The Lady Tigers traveled to Forney Tuesday night to face the North Forney Falcons. Terrell dominated the match winning 5-0.

Forney Light Show

If you have the chance, take a drive over to Forney and see the Forney Light Show, it's more than just a Christmas light display. The only thing they ask is that you bring canned goods to donate. They collect the canned goods for The New Life Food Pantry in Forney.

Santa will be there December 18 & 19.

There are a couple of my favorite shots from Friday nights game in Forney, Texas. I am getting better at taking the picture then moving out of the way, instead of moving out of the way while trying to take the picture.

That was close

Friday nights football game in Forney was a classic. Terrell built a 21-0 lead only to have to intercept a potential game winning TD pass by Forney with less than 2 minutes to go. Terrell ended up winning 21-15. Cliff has a recap of the game along with quotes from Terrell's Coach Gilbert.

This is the second TD scored by Forney. They came right at me.

Terrell 7 on 7 football

Terrell had a team entered in a 7 on 7 football tournament in Forney, Texas over the last few weeks. 7 on 7 a passing only touch football tournament. Each team plays two games a night. Last night Terrell played Rockwall-Heath and Forney.

Forney money grab? - Updated

Updated-A decision has been made, Obstructed View has the story up. I look forward to reading more in tomorrows Tribune.

Today's Kaufman County Commissioners meeting should be interesting. Sundays print edition of the Terrell Tribune has the story about what seems to me to be a money grab by Forney our neighbor to the west. If you are in the Terrell area, go pick up a Tribune and give it a read. Micheal has posted his feeling on the issue at Obstructed View. At issue is funding for two bridges. One in Forney that will cross highway 80 and provide the opportunity for FUTURE retail development and growth. The other bridge is the highway 34 overpass of highway 80, that has been part of a master plan for years. There is not enough money to complete both projects. The current intersection in Terrell is an accident waiting to happen. Below are pictures of the current intersection of 34 & 80 in Terrell. I would post pictures of the proposed bridge site in Forney, but everyone knows what corn fields look like. I am sure somehow both projects will get built, but I will be keeping an eye on the Tribune to see how this plays out.

This is 34 looking south. At highway 80 you have to turn, you can not go straight.
The proposed bridge will cross over 80 and take away this dangerous intersection.

I went and saw this Saturday night, wish I would have seen this.

The new Dallas Cowboys stadium opened in Arlington, Texas Saturday with a George Strait concert. The opening was met with positive reviews. One of the local TV stations interviewed a couple who looked and sounded like they had been to a few Grateful Dead concerts. They said after paying $40 to park (that's to park in a stadium lot) that concert was cool, the munchies were expensive and the stadium was awesome dude.

The Terrell Tigers baseball team lost the their first playoff game to Midway 13-0 Thursday night. Game 2 has been pushed up to 5pm today at Ben Gill Field. If game 3 is needed it will start 30 minutes after game 2. I will have to leave work early to make it there by 5. Bad weather is scheduled for Saturday.

Forney also dropped their game 3-2 to Waxahachie. Game 2 in their series is tonight night 7pm in Forney.

Forney baseball playoffs schedule change

Due to a wet field, the schedule has changed for the Forney - Waxahachie baseball playoffs. Game one in Waxahachie tonight at 7pm. Game 2 will be in Forney tomorrow night at 7. Game 3, if needed, will be Saturday in Forney at 2pm.

Terrell to face Midway in baseball playoffs

The Terrell Tigers will take on the Midway Panthers in the UIL High School baseball playoffs that begin next week in Waco. Waco defeated Waxahachie 6-0 today to win their division. The first game will be in Waco on Thursday, May 14th. The second and, if needed, third game will be in Terrell at Ben Gill Field, Saturday May 16th starting at noon. The third game will start 30 minutes after the second game ends.

Last year I watched Forney and Midway battle in the playoffs in Forney. The pictures above came from that game. Midway won that series.

I would love to be able to go to Waco to watch the Tigers but I don't think my budget will allow it.

Forney is also in the playoffs. They open against Waxahachie Thursday night in Forney. I may be able to make it to that game.

Checking the calendar at the bottom of the page, next weekend is shaping up to be a busy one. Saturday starts off with Tiger baseball. Relay for Life starts Saturday night and Sunday morning Run for the Wall 2009 makes a fuel stop in Terrell.

Almost

Terrell lost 3-2 to Forney Friday night. Michael has some great shots from the baseball and softball game. Head over to his site, Obstructed View to check them out.

Hopefully, we are off to bet on the horses today. Maybe I

will hit the super and win enough for a big camera. :-)

Theme Day-Forney Jackrabbits

Today is Theme Day in the CPD world. The theme for April is the color yellow. I could either post a picture of a yellow flower or a baseball player for the Forney Jackrabbits who have yellow numbers.

Easy choice for me, even if it is a stretch. Terrell traveled to Forney last night and ended up on the losing end of an 8-2 score.



I have to have at least one picture of the Tigers. Win or lose I support them.

Tigers take care of the Jackrabbits

After a shaky start, the Terrell Tigers came from behind to defeat the Forney Jackrabbits 55-45. I think at one point in the second quarter Terrell trailed 20-10 and looked sloppy, not even being able to hit free throws.

Terrell came out in the third quarter and the shots finally started to fall over the taller Jackrabbits. Terrell pulled away in the fourth quarter and Forney never really got closer than 4.
Good game by the Tigers tonight.

Early in the game the Forney freshman were talking all kinds of trash. Even making the Tiger
blush. They were just playing around, everyone was laughing.

Midway advances

Waco Midway beat Forney yesterday to advance in the Class 4A State baseball playoffs. Here is another picture from Friday nights game in Forney. The spot I was at on the third base line was between the wall and the pitchers warm up area.


The above pic kind of reminds me of the old type baseball cards.

The bottom pic lets you see just how close we were to the warmup area. Looks like he was going to throw it to me.

Waco Midway vs. Forney Jackrabbits

I made a short trip to Forney last night to watch the second game of the Class 4A Regional Semifinal between Waco Midway and Forney Jackrabbits. Midway won the first game Thursday night. Forney came through with a big 4th inning and won Friday nights game 10-7. The deciding game will be Saturday in Duncanville, TX.


This is the Forney starting pitcher warming up before the game. I dont think he was healthly going into the game. He only last a few batters before being replaced. He stayed in the game, playing shortstop and 2nd base coming through twice with clutch hits. More photos to come.

I posted a clip on you tube from the bottom of the 4th inning. The clip is the tying and go ahead run scoring.

Terrell falls to Forney

The Terrell Tigers played the Forney Jackrabbits Friday night in what was finally their first home game of the season. Terrell lost to Forney 2-1, but they team played well. The photo is of the pitcher for Terrell getting ready to face a batter from Forney.
