State Fair of Texas 2009-Rides

These are just some of the rides at the State Fair. I will post more of the Texas Star later today.











My week 5 NFL picks didn't turn out so well. I ended the week 7-7. For the year I am still a respectable 51-24. I also lost in Fantasy Football dropping me to 3-2 and a tie for 3rd place.

The Terrell Tigers football squad is still ranked #20 in the DFW Class 4A poll. Red Oak, their opponent this Friday is ranked #13 in the same poll.

State Fair of Texas 2009-Fair Food

I wasn't about to try all the different foods that are available at the fair. Instead I will give you a small idea of what they were offering just by the signs.



The other day I mentioned that I liked kabobs at First Monday.
I think I will pass on the alligator kabobs.
We always have Fletcher's Corny Dogs.

Tomorrow the rides, including the Texas Star.

Brian and I went to the State Fair of Texas in Dallas yesterday.

First Christian Church, Octoberfest

First Christian Church in Terrell held their annual Octoberfest today. Turnout looked great. A lot of the vendors are selling original creations, so no close ups of their work.

Ready to dry out

Since midnight there has been just over 2.1 inches of rain recorded at Terrell Municipal Airport and the temperature is currently in the 50s........but the week is over.

This place has been closed for as long as I can remember. I posted a picture of the side of one of the buildings back in 2007.

One of the nice things about living in Terrell is we are close to Canton, Texas, which is home to First Monday. We normally make the 25 mile trip for lunch and just to walk around. They have everything from corn dogs to steak sandwiches. My favorites are the kabobs.



We went out to Canton this past weekend, the crowd was insane. Lots of people shopping for bargains. Only two more First Mondays before Christmas.

If you have ever been to Canton, you know a picture or two can never capture just how big it is. If you haven't been to Canton before, what are you waiting for?

The next First Monday is November 6-8.




The Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog is out. I am not picky, you can get me a cup cake.

Another kind of bird

A different kind of bird found out at the Fly-In. I am still looking to get that perfect shot of the vulture. This one will do for now.

Here is a tip for people who may not live in Terrell or people who do not have a clue. It is Terrell High School, THS, not TSH, that's Terrell State Hospital. A touchdown is 6 points, an touchdown with an extra point is worth 7. Can a football be kicked off side?

I finished 11-3 in my just for fun NFL picks for week 4, and I did pick Denver over the Cowboys. For the year I am 44-17.

I also won my fantasy football match up. My record is 3-1 tied for 1st place.

Anyone know what down it is?

Football Friday night

A few more shots taken at the football game Friday night, Terrell against Mabank. Terrell won a thrilling game 27-20. Terrell has a bye this week then goes on the road to play Red Oak. I will be looking forward to Cliffs preview in the Tribune and his take on Red Oaks surprising start to district play. Cliff provides the best coverage of all sports in the Terrell Tribune.

First Baptist Church Outdoorsman's Expo

Saturday afternoon First Baptist Church of Terrell held an Outdoorsman's Expo and Banquet. I got there in time to get a few shots.

Flights of our Fathers Fly-In

Tomorrow is the Flights of our Fathers Fly-In at the Terrell Municipal Airport. Gates open at 7:30. Admission is $5. Bring your camera and join me taking pictures. I will be on the grounds at 11am. My week 3 NFL picks looked more like week 1 than week 2 thank goodness. I finished the week 12-4, bringing my total 33-15 for the year. I may be wrong, but I think Cliff finished the week a respectable 10-6. I'll take coke please.

Frank Gores injury was my downfall in fantasy football this week. I lost by 6 points. My record is 2-1.

Ice House warms up the crowd

Jamie Foxx day in Terrell, Texas started early. We got their around 8am, the gates opened around 8:30am. Ice House provided music to get everyone going.

Texas Governor Rick Perry was on hand. He was introduced first and took the stage while Jamie was coming down the red carpet. Here is Gov. Perry is taking a picture of the crowd with his phone. Seems like the new thing is taking pictures from the stage with your phones. I thought it was kinda funny. You will have to click to enlarge the picture to see it.
