Terrell's daily newspaper

Terrell is located about 30 miles east of Dallas and it’s the largest town in Kaufman County. The North Central Texas Council of Governments estimates the January 1, 2007 population of Terrell as 15,750. One of the nice things about living in Terrell is we have our own daily newspaper, The Terrell Tribune. They have a print version and an online version. Not bad for a small town. I usually check out the main stories online, then purchase the paper on the way home from work. Do you live in a small town with a daily newspaper? Be sure to check out the link on the sidebar. The sports editor for the Tribune has a blog that was voted 2007's Best Blog by Texas Associated Press Managing Editors. He has his pick for the NBA championship posted now.

I love a good local newspaper. After all, it was on just such a newspaper that I cut my teeth as a "cub reporter" a hundred years ago :)

Our local paper is a weekly which is mostly very local stuff--I like it. Towns to the north and south of me have daily papers and I get both. I am right on the county line and the counties are very territorial so I get lots of news. MB

well we have the big city papers (chicago tribune, chicago sun-times) but my neighborhood also has its own paper called the hyde park herald, sometimes i wish i were a news photographer (just a little wish)

The best we have is a countywide daily, and a larger chain that covers the entire Chicago Metro area, but produces papers with a local focus. We had a local daily in my hometown, and I helped the boy that lived next door deliver it in the afternoons after school.

Yes, we have a daily paper that comes out each evening. It is from 4 to 12 pages 5 days a week.

Nice to see your tribute to a small-town paper!

Our town only has about 5,000, plus the surrounding area, so our paper is just twice a week. But it's nice to have it.

As a newspaper man (and someone who does a bit of writing and photography) I was fascinated by this post.

And your newspaper dispensers are such a different sight for us here in Australia ....

Wow, a daily paper! Our Walton Tribune only comes out on Sunday and Wednesday but I love it because it features the local schools sports and academics. It's always funny to open the paper and be suprised by seeing my own children in it or someone we know!

Great idea for your post, Jim. You've got some people thinking about what they've got at home, making them appreciate it even more. There is an awful lot to read here in the newspaper area. I'll have to get a good photo of the newspaper boxes at an intersection to show you.

We have the Seguin Gazette that's been around about 120 years I believe. There's also a little daily called the Seguin Daily News.

Thanks for stopping by regularly, Jim. It's always nice to see you've been to visit. :) I checked out the link to Gibson's blog. Very interesting but I believe the Spurs upset his pick of the Suns, as most people did (who aren't Spurs fans, that is). Here's to the Spurs pushing past New Orleans. Should be a great one.

That is an interesting vending machine for newspaper. We had people delivered to our doorsteps or get them from the shops or kiosks that are near us.

That’s fantastic for a small town. There should be more of it. The North West coast of Tasmania (where I’m from), still has a local paper, but most have been gobbled up by the News Limited (Rupert Murdoch).
