Back to work

I was only off work a few days, what happened to the place?

December 5th at Memorial Stadium is the annual Terrell Police Services vs. Terrell Fire Department flag football game. Game time is 10am, admission is an unwrapped toy for boys and girls age 10 and up. The Terrell Chamber of Commerce has a calendar posted with all of the Christmas events.

How would you like to go to Hawaii for Christmas? The SMU Mustangs look to be heading to the Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve. Not a bad trip for your first bowl game in 25 years.

The University of Mississippi, and former Terrell Tiger Gerald Harris, may be heading to the Cotton Bowl on January 2nd. However, Cotton Bowl officials may not want to take the Rebels two years in a row.

Vince Young, a former Texas Longhorn led a 99 yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass as time expired to win the game.

Missouri, my favorite team growing up, defeated rival Kansas and looks to be heading to the Insight Bowl in Tempe, AZ. If the bowl projections are correct, the 8-4 Tigers will be playing 6-6 Minnesota, who lost 4 of their last 6 games. Doesn't that sound like and exciting game? I bet the Tigers would turn down Tempe for a trip to Hawaii.

Colt McCoy should win the Heisman, and I love to see the Irish struggle.

Black Friday sunrise

I avoided getting close to any stores this morning. I did get up early and go out with Brian to get a few shots of the sunrise on Moore Ave.

Happy Thanksgiving

This was taken last year on Thanksgiving day around noon. A squirrel wanted to have transformer for lunch causing our block along with a few others to lose power for the afternoon. Lets hope today goes smoother than last year.

Paying respect

The Terrell Tribune has an excellent slideshow "Bringing Home Spc. Joseph "GI Joe" Lewis."

Brian also has a post up of Spc. Lewis' return home to Terrell, Texas.

Rim rocker

I remember seeing this play a lot last year. Only it was the opposing team doing it to Terrell. I am still learning how to get the best photos in the gym, but I like the sequence of shots here. Click on the pictures to enlarge.

Terrell was taking the ball out to the side of the basket.

Jherrod Stiggers cut down the lane for the basket as the ball was thrown in.

Jherrod is ready to jump as the ball is in air.

Almost, can he pull it off?

Awesome dunk, and check out the player who threw the ball in. I think he jumped a few feet as the dunk was happening.

Brian over at Texas Daily Photo has a new camera and he has some shots from the game post at his site.

Push Push Push

I think the game plan going into Terrell's basketball game with Sulphur Springs Tuesday night was to push the ball every chance they got. On every forced turnover and defensive rebound the Terrell coaching staff was yelling, push, push, push.

The goal was to wear down the Wildcats who only dressed 6 players for the game. I would guess that they were shorthanded because their football team is still alive in the playoffs and there are students who play both sports.

The Wildcats did their best to keep the game close. They hit some 3 pointers early and only trailed by 4 after the first quarter 21-17. Terrell widened the lead to 13 at half time and pulled away in the second half to win 89-65.

Five Tigers scored in double figures
Jherrod Stiggers 24
Darius Simpson 12
Michael White 11
Josh Winfield 11
Michael McNeal 10

The Tigers are now 3-0.

North Catherine

This is my street this past Sunday morning. Not much for fall colors, most of the trees are tall pecans.

We enjoy the shade in the summer, but when the wind and thunderstorms roll in it gets a bit scary.

I picked 13 out of 16 NFL games in week 11. My season record is 107-53.

Kountry Kitchen

Had breakfast at Kountry Kitchen the other morning. They have moved into the spot that used to be the Flamingo Grill. The operators of the Flamingo Grill have opened up a sports bar at another location.

I had sausage gravy and biscuits, very good.

I watched the American Music Awards last night. Not so much for the awards, but for the performances. I saw some home runs and a few strikeouts.

The best performance of the night was hands down Mary J. Blige, she sounded as great as she looked.

I also enjoyed Eminem, Green Day, Lady Gaga and Whitney Houston.

Striking out was Adam Lambert, his performance wasn't bad, but I didn't like the song. If that's a sample of the music on his new album, I will not be downloading it.

I also could pass on Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z and Timbaland.

Getting a face lift

Not me, one of the businesses on Moore Ave. is getting a face lift. This should finish off the entire block.

Come back tomorrow morning for my favorite Tiger football shots from Saturdays game.
