Till next year

The last few Terrell Heritage Jubilee pictures.

I heard on the radio that a great way to increase traffic to your site was to mention Donald Trump and birthers.  I really don't have an opinion on either one, but I do like Celebrity Apprentice.

Cars

The car show was Saturday at the Terrell Heritage Jubilee. I think they had more cars on display this year then in the last few years.

BBQ is serious stuff

Yesterday was a great day at the Terrell Heritage Jubilee. One of the highlights yesterday was the bbq cookoff. Click here for todays schedule.

BBQ cook off

One of the highlights of the Terrell Heritage Jubilee is the BBQ cook off. I was able to walk around the judging area for the rib competition. This is serious business. Each entry has to be presented the same way and judges are instructed how to taste and vote each entry.

The Dallas Morning News recently ran the area high school spring football practice start dates and the date of the spring games. The Terrell Tigers were not included on their list.

The Terrell Tigers spring practice will begin Monday May 3rd and end with the Spring game on May 28th at 6:30PM

I would expect someone with a college education would know how to pay attention to details. Maybe that's not a requirement to get a diploma.

Fun and games

A couple of shots from the carnival.

Monday Morning Mashup

The 2010 Heritage Jubilee came to a close yesterday with chilly temperatures and a little rain. I am glad I made it out there on Saturday and got plenty of pictures. The car show is just one of the annual attractions at the Jubilee.

The Fountain 5K and walk was Saturday morning, results of the race can be found here. I didn't win, but did come in 3rd in my age group.

The city of Terrell will be having an election for Mayor on May 8th. Current Mayor Hal Richards is running for re-election. He also ran Saturday in the 5K, finishing in an impressive 32:04. He finished just ahead of Brian, who ran the race in 32:26.

The Tigers suffered a tough loss on Friday night to Red Oak, but they are still in the playoff hunt. Terrell currently has a one game lead on Mabank for the final slot. Both teams have 3 district games remaining. If the final three games play out as expected, Terrell and Mabank will finish tied. If they tie, they will play one game, winner is in.

I added to the Terrell Facebook page a photo set from the Red Oak game and a couple of pictures from the dog show and a full set from the Jubilee. You will be seeing Jubilee photos here for most of the week. Be sure to check out Texas Daily Photo on Facebook also. Make sure you become a fan of both sites.

Dogs and owners

From the Dog Show at the Terrell Heritage Jubilee. Brian also has photos from the show posted at Texas Daily Photo. The Jubilee continues today, come on out.

This one doesn't fit the title of the post, but I couldn't leave it out.

Games

Today is the BBQ Cookoff at the Heritage Jubilee. The park was full last night with smokers going, music playing and games of horseshoe being played. I am running in the Fountain 5K this morning. After that, it should be a great day for pictures.

Terrell baseball dropped a district game to Red Oak last night in extra innings 7-4. Terrell jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning but couldn't put anything together after that. Red Oak chipped away at the lead, finally knotting the score at 3-3 in the top of the 7th. Red Oak went on to score 3 more runs in the top of the 8th. Terrell could only scored one run in the bottom of the 8th, making the final 7-4. I will have pictures posted of the game later this weekend. Terrell's district record is 4-5 still one game ahead of Mabank for the final playoff spot.

Jubilee wrapup

I have a few more shots from the Jubilee I want to share.

This is Cilla and Crispy. Check out her blog and her business websites, Daimilus and Kennel Saint Cox

I think this guy was with the Cowboy Church. Would that make him a space cowboy?

With mud like this...

....you may need something like this to get around.

The Tribune posted the winners for all Barbecue divisions.
Be sure to visit and check out their slide show of the winners.

Terrell Heritage Jubilee-THS entertainment

Entertainment during the day Saturday was provided by the bands and choirs of the Terrell Independent School District.

Below is the Terrell High School Stage Band.

Here is a clip of the THS percussion.

Last night the Tigers played Red Oak in a game that was rescheduled from Friday night. The Tigers came out on top 8-2. That should clinch a playoff spot for them.
Dustin Jackson was the winning pitcher and Logan Smith hit a solo HR to the tie the score at 2 in the 6th.

The Tigers baseball team plays Mesquite Poteet tonight at 7:30 at Ben Gill Field. The Pirates are 18-2 and the top ranked 4A team in the Dallas area. Come out and support the Tigers and say hi if you see me.

If you have reached this page from a search engine, click on Terrell Daily Photo at the top of the page to view the full site.

Terrell Heritage Jubilee-Frisbee dogs

One of the kid favorites at the Jubilee are the Frisbee dogs. They performed Saturday and Sunday. It's hard to get a shot at just the right time. Thankfully I got two.

This is going to be a hard week for the Tigers baseball team. Tonight they travel to Red Oak to make up the game rained out on Friday. Tomorrow they host Mesquite Poteet at 7:30 and Friday they host Forney also at 7:30. JV games start at 4:30 for both home games. The Tigers are almost in the playoffs, come out and support Coach Rush and the Tigers.

Terrell Heritage Jubilee-Gasoline Alley

Gasoline alley started a little wet, with a shower that passed through early. As the sun came out so did the crowds and the car owners shining up the fenders, rolling down windows and making sure their baby's looked their best. This is just a small sample of the cars that were on display. The Jubilee continues today.

BBQ cook-off at the Jubilee

A little rain couldn't keep people from heading out to the Heritage Jubilee Saturday. The Jubilee continues Sunday, bring out the family. Here are a few pictures of the BBQ cook-off. I will post pictures of the car show tomorrow.

Sundays lineup includes a motorcycle show, frisbee dogs and entertainment on the stage.

These people are serious about their BBQ.

This is the judging tent during the chicken competition.

Catchy name

Cooks lined up to check in their chicken

Terrell Heritage Jubilee

Come out today or Sunday to the Jubilee. Today features the barbecue judging (they are always looking for judges), the car and truck show, dog show, great entertainment and of course the carnival. I will be walking around today taking pictures and meeting new people.
