Skywatch Friday-Hoover Dam

I guess last weeks and this weeks post could be called reverse Skywatch Friday since they are looking at the ground from the sky. This is Hoover Dam on the border of Arizona and Nevada taken out the window as our jet was making the approach into Las Vegas. The white on the rocks is where the water level should be. You can also see the new bridge thats being built. Click the picture for a better look.

A view FROM the sky. Now that's original. Very impressive when enlarged. I can see the low water level much better.

Very super picture. Water seems pretty low. It looks very surreal when enlarged. MB

Great photo, Jim. Scary high looking bridge being built!

I've thoroughly enjoyed browsing all of your recent posts. I do hope Google has treated you right, finally.

Well done for the reverse sky shot! I'd love to see this from the ground too. It's on my must-see list..

I, too, have visited the dam and it's even more impessive from the air. Maximizing the photo really gives a visual impact on the size and the environment.

Very clever to do a reverse skywatch and a dam photo! LOL (did you ever see Vegas Vacation with all the dam jokes?)

You don't get many of these kind of images on skywatch. Clever funny stuff.

My New England mind can't get itself around the size of this thing.

People won't be driving over the dam anymore? Weird

This is am amazing photo...but also one that makes me dizzy! Just looking at photos of Hoover Dam scares me....I have a thing about heights and so forth. I also have a phobia of bridges. There is NO WAY I could ever drive across that bridge they are building. I guess I'm just that way...LOL.

I've never paid attention to or looked for the dam while flying over. I did do a tour of the dam once though I can barely remember it.

Great perspective on the dam, from above!
