Future Mayor?

Looks like he is ready to call this meeting to order.

The Terrell City Council meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays every month. Since last night was the 1st Tuesday and I had nothing better to do, I decided to walk down to City Hall. The Mayor, Council and City Staff did what they do best, talk, make motions and schedule more meetings, fun stuff. Just kidding, they work very hard. They did have some special guests watching the proceedings. Mr. Gardner (I hope that's right) brought his kids to the Council meeting to watch City Government in action. While the Council was in executive session, Lynnette Nadeau Marketing Coordinator for the City of Terrell, spoke to the kids about City Government, how Council members are elected, and asked them if they were interested in joining a youth advisory council (I probably got that name wrong). After the meeting was over, Mayor Richards, the Council and City staff offered to answer any questions the kids had. They even got to sit in the Councils seats.
Hats off to Mr. Gardner for getting his children involved in their community. Its nice to see young people interested in their community.

Here are the kids with members of the Council and City Staff.

This is Mr. Gardner speaking to the Council. If I have any names or facts wrong, please leave a comment or email me so I can make corrections.

You're right; this is the best form of education. Good for the council members, too.

How neat to have the children involved. Hat's off to Mr. Gardner. And good for you to take the time to go to the meeting too. MB

Great way to get children involved in our democratic process.

I think it's a great idea to expose kids to see how the government is run. I sometimes watch the city council meetings on our local tv channel and learned some interesting things about the city.

Nice job on the coverage down at City Hall, Jim. Great to see the teacher getting the kids involved too. Super post.
