Las Vegas Blvd closed

Saturday afternoon in Vegas we noticed part of Las Vegas Blvd was closed.  The police taped off a block near the Tropicana Casino.  We weren't sure what was going on, but it made it easy to cross the street without having to go to the corner.  It also provided a nice backdrop for pictures.  This group wasn't mugging it up for, but since I had my camera out and they were posing.

We found out later that the police were investigating a suspicious bag left behind a bush.  It turned out to be nothing.

I'm going to share more photos from Las Vegas this week.

Ham Orchards opened over the weekend.  I'll be out there soon for some peach ice cream.

Iron Tiger night is this Friday at 6PM at the TISD Athletic Complex-UPDATED, Iron Tiger night has been cancelled.

District 15-4A still has two team represented in the baseball playoffs.  Mesquite Poteet advances to the Regional Quarterfinals against Texarkana Texas.  Poteet has outscored their opponents in the first two rounds 21-3 while going 3-0.  Waxahachie matches up against Hallsville in another Regional Quarterfinal.  The Wax/Hallsville series will be played in Canton beginning Thursday.  Forney and Red Oak both had their season end with playoff loses.

Carrot Top at the Luxor

We went to see Carrot Top at the Luxor. Seventh row seats and funny as hell. Of course no cameras in the auditorium.

Mack Daddy turns 40

You might remember Mack from the picture from New Years Eve. Monday he turned 40. He planned everyone going to Shreveport to celebrate. His wife Michelle had a different idea. She picked him up from work on Friday and went straight to the airport for a surprise trip to Vegas for his big 40.

Hopefully my Google situation is close to being resolved.

Fat Tuesday

Today is Fat Tuesday, my family used to go to New Orleans every year for Mardi Gras. I havent been to NOLA in years. I did take a short trip to Vegas for the weekend. The only thing I brought back was a cold or crud or something. We stayed at Harrahs, a Mardi Gras themed hotel/casino.

Las Vegas for the pep's

Mo from Another Las Vegas Daily Photo posted a photo of this sign on December 27th. At the time the sign said the candidate was "for the pep's" Mo wrote, and I am sure everyone agreed that it probably should be "for the peeps". Notice that part of the sign has been painted over. I thought it was funny to see a sign that I recognized from CDPB, my friends thought I was crazy.

I totally enjoyed the trip to Las Vegas, didnt win any money, but thats ok. To see more of Las Vegas visit Mo daily. She has the pictures and the history to go with it.

I am back

I hate to say it but we are back from Las Vegas. The trip was wonderful. In the coming days, I will post pictures on my second page of the trip. One picture for today is the hotel we stayed at. By the time we left there was nothing left.

Not really, this is the old Frontier. There was a larger building farther back from the strip that was imploded late last year. I guess this was a smaller building they decided they could just tear down instead. When we got to Vegas on Tuesday almost the entire building was standing. By the time we left on Friday afternoon, it was gone.

Mo posted two photos of the main hotel building before it was imploded and the reason it had to be removed. In my post you can see more of the Trump Tower. I guess the parking garage is going up in front of it.

I am sorry I wasn't able to make it to everyones site on Jan 1. We were rushed leaving the for the airport, we had to fight Cotton Bowl traffic so we left early. Thanks to everyone who made nice comments about my post.
