Friday night fright?

The Tigers lost their last home game last night to the Lancaster Tigers. Due to a another commitment, I was unable to attend the game. I was hoping for more updates online during the game.....

Their season comes to an end next week in Ennis.

I did find this witch hanging out in the corner.

Terrell Volunteer Fire Department

Yesterday was the ribbon cutting for the Terrell Volunteer Fire Departments membership to the Terrell Chamber of Commerce.  I wanted to go but my job that pays the bills comes first.  Cilla, who is a member of the Chamber, said she was going and I asked her to get a picture for me.  So, todays picture is courtesy of Cilla.  I still want to go down there and get photos.

Please dont copy or use the picture without consent of Cilla.

Cilla is preparing to open Saint Cox Dog Resort next month. Make sure you visit their site and see what they will have to offer. If you are in the area visit their Grand Opening on November 20th. Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

We went barn hunting yesterday afternoon.  We found a couple of barns for tomorrows barn series, but we also spotted bad weather, a wild hog that ran in front of the truck and this guy or girl in the woods.  It has been a million years since I have been deer hunting with my Father, but I still look in the trees for deer.  This one just stood there for a minute, long enough for me to get the right lens on my camera and get a few pictures.  If you look closely to the right of the picture, there is one green eye from a friend.  We found out when we got home the bad weather included a tornado in Lone Oak not far from where we were.

If you are a dog owner, enter your pet dressed in its favorite costume in the Saint Cox Dog Resort Halloween Pet Costume Contest.  Details are here.

Saturdays run in Durant was fun.  My time was 34:36, and yes, a little gambling at the casino was on the agenda.  The next race looks like its going to be fun also.  Its The Speedway Run on November 13th at Texas Motor Speedway.  The race is around the garage area in the infield.  While running there will be Nascar cars driving around the track.  Sounds cool to me.

Remember this?  After sitting on my desk reminding me how dumb I am it decided to start working.  So glad I didnt take a hammer to it......right Don?

A photo album as been added to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page from Thursday nights football game in West Mesquite.  Check out the album and 'like' the page.  This Friday night Terrell will have Senior night at Memorial stadium.  Terrell will have to play the spoiler role against Lancaster.  I will not be able to attend this weeks game.

Choctaw hotel tower

Colton's Main Street Run was in Durant, OK. Saturday morning at 9AM.  A great reason to stay the night at the new Choctaw Casino hotel.

Thursday night football

West Mesquite showed why they are one of the top ranked 4A teams in the area last night beating the Tigers 45-20.  The Tigers never gave up and played hard but couldn't match up with the Wranglers.  Here are just a few shots of the game.

New boots?

I bet on #3 to win Saturday night at Lone Star Park.

I am thinking about getting some new boots and of course a matching belt.  These look nice. What do you think?

Rangers are up 3-1 on the Yankees.  Lets hope that Nolan Ryan keeps Avery Johnson away from the team.

Convoy for a Cure USA

A few shots from out at the TA truck stop on Saturday morning.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

The State Fair of Texas ended yesterday.  I made the trip out there Thursday.  Below is a small listing of the Fair food available.  I'll have more pictures from the Fair this week. Click the picture for a larger version.

The Tigers have a short week, they play Thursday night in Mesquite against the West Mesquite Wranglers.    The Wranglers QB is TCU recruit Trevone Boykin.  Trevone has scored 16 rushing touchdowns and passed for 13 leading his team to a 4-1 district record and 6-1 overall.  Friday night they defeated Waxahachie 63-56.    I have an album posted to the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page from Friday nights game against Corsicana.  Recommend Terrell Daily Photo on Facebook to your friends.

Saturday was suppose to be the Convoy for a Cure out at TA truck stop.  However, citing numerous safety concerns the Terrell Police Department would not allow the convoy leave the parking lot.  I'll put up a couple of pictures from the event later this afternoon.

Our 5K race this Saturday is Colton's Main Street run in Durant, OK.  They are planning on having just over 100 runners, so it sounds like it could be fun.  This will be the 4th weekend in a row running a 5k.

Early voting starts today, whoopee.  I will be happy when the commercials stop.  They get meaner and more vicious every year.  I'm turned off by all of it.

Stick a fork in the Boys, their season is done.  Maybe they are working on getting a top 5 draft pick next year.

Heartland Harvest

Yesterday, Brian and I ran in the Heartland Harvest 5K race. It was the first year for the race and very well organized.  I improved on my recent times, but didn't beat my best time.  I enjoyed the race course around the lake, this is one I will be back at next year.  The long sleeve shirt and goody bag was pretty neat also.

After the race they had the awards ceremony and kids activities till noon.

The battle of the Tigers tonight as Terrell faces another must win game when they host the the Tigers from Corsicana.  Corsicana is riding a 3 game winning streak, having defeated Ennis, then unbeaten Mesquite Poteet and Waxahachie.  Our Tigers have won 2 straight, beating Red Oak and Forney.

Todays picture is Terrell kicker Josh Simmons leaving the field after a kickoff against Forney.  Josh would end up hitting a 27 yard field goal in the 2nd overtime to win the game for the Tigers.

Racers

Here are some of the finishers of the Tyler Rose half marathon.   Jerry Glover Photography was the official photographer of the event.  Their high resolution pictures should be available Thursday night.

Only devils would be smiling at the end of a 13 mile run.

How about Ian Kinsler and the Texas Rangers? They finish off the Rays and get the Yankees next.

This is Ian Kinsler on a rehab assignment
 earlier this year in Frisco.

Terrell, Texas Monday Morning Mashup

Brian and I traveled out to Tyler, TX yesterday to run in the Tyler Rose 5K.  My time wasn't great, I really  need to pick up my game, but it seems the races are all uphill both ways.

The was the first running of the Tyler Rose races.  In addition to the 5K, they also had a half-marathon and a full marathon.  The full marathon was a qualifier for the Boston marathon.  Today's picture is Kipzimo Chemirmir the overall winner of the marathon.  He finished with a time of 2:44:34.  The spelling of the name is different, but I am pretty sure he is was the winner of the McKinney Historical 5K run.

The 16th we are running in the Heartland Harvest 5K.

The Terrell Tigers varsity football team is back in the playoff hunt following their double overtime win in Forney on Friday night.  I added a gallery from the game on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.  This Friday the Tigers host Corsicana who are riding a 3 games winning streak and ranked #11 in the latest DMN 4A poll.

Make sure you hit the 'like' button on the Facebook page and suggest it to your friends.

10.10.10

Another shot from Friday nights game.  We are off to Tyler this morning for the Tyler Rose Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K.  Guess which one we are running.

I'll catch up with ya later today.

Double overtime thriller

Terrell's Josh Simmons just as he was about to attempt a 27 yard field goal in the second overtime against Forney.  He makes the kick, Tigers win, he misses they go into a third overtime.

Can you tell he made it?  Tigers win 24-21

Turn around

This guy is at the end of the road that I run on (almost) every day.  Sunday is our next 5K.  This time its in Tyler Rose 5K on 10-10-10.   Should be fun.

Join the Tigers (1-2) tonight as they travel to Forney (1-3) to take on the Jackrabbits.  The annual game against Forney is always intense.  Last year in Forney, the Tigers jumped out to a 21-0 lead and then hung on to win 21-15.   Tonights game will probably be just as close.

Other games in 15-4A
Ennis 0-4 @ Lancaster 3-0
Mesquite Poteet 3-1 @ West Mesquite 2-1
Waxahachie 2-1 @ Corsicana 2-2
Red Oak 2-2 is on bye.

If you can't attend the game, listen live on KPYK. Kickoff is 7:30. Updates on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.

That time of year

I wonder if anyone has ever done a study to see the economic impact of campaigning and elections.  Without getting into who should win or lose in another state, shouldn't putting $100 million of your own personal money help the economy?

Don't take my picture as an endorsement of any candidate.

The Texas Rangers took game 1 of their playoff series against the Tampa Bay Rays.  It's a shame they have to have playoff games during the week played during the day.   But, I would rather have day playoff games with the Rangers over nothing at all.

Volleyball

The Lady Tigers hosted the Lions from Ennis last night. I was able to catch part of the match.

A representative from ihigh.com was at the match last night and streamed a live feed from the game on their website that is set up for Terrell Athletics.  The booster club is looking to use ihigh for an athletic website.  Check out the link and let me know what you think.
