Picked off

Another of the bad breaks that seem to find the Tigers. Thursdays game against Lancaster has been moved to Friday. Same time and location. The weather forecast for Friday, showers and thunderstorms. I'll have more pictures from the game on the Facebook page later this week.

Terrell @ Forney baseball

Terrell traveled to Forney last night for a District baseball game. Terrell lost the game 8-1. The guys just can't catch a break.

Got a part for me?

Last week as we were driving through Dallas we noticed a lot of commotion on a side street. We swung around and I got the camera out, not knowing what was going on.

I was able to find online that they are shooting a Jerry Bruckheimer TV pilot called Chase.

I should have jumped out and given them my best "to beeeee or not to beeeee" in Mel Brooks fashion. I think I could have gotten a part.

Don't forget to become of a fan of Terrell Daily Photo on Facebook.

Last week NETFAA hosted a Paint Out in Terrell. I am not sure of the results, but below is one blog that shows one artists work. There's some very nice work on her site.

Holding on

I don't think she was going to let go.

Monday Morning Mashup

I finished my second 5K Saturday morning. It was the Spring into Action 5K Fun Run and Walk benefiting the Women and Infants department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman, TX. They announced on site that they had over 250 registered runners. My goal going into the race was to break 40 minutes, I finished in 38:47. Next up is the Capitol 10K in Austin on April 11th. I have no dreams of running that course. I plan on walking, jogging, taking pictures and having fun along the way.

The Fountain 5K and Walk is on April 17th, during the Terrell Heritage Jubilee. The race will benefit Volunteer Services Council of Terrell State Hospital.

A full schedule of events for the Jubilee can be found here.

The Tigers baseball team will travel to Forney Tuesday night for a district game against the Jackrabbits. The Tigers will then host Lancaster Tigers Thursday night. The team has started slow in district play, but starting with the game against Lancaster, Terrell will have 5 of the final 7 district games at home. Hopefully, the home field will give them the boost needed to make the playoffs.

I added a couple of photo sets to the Facebook page. Follow the link on the right to check out photos from Dallas Blooms, Tiger baseball and the 5K Run in Kaufman.

There is a story on the Terrell Tribunes site that has generated quite a few negative comments about growth, safety and overall quality of life in Terrell. I would like to direct the anonymous commenter's to the City of Terrell's website where they can apply for the Terrell Citizens University.

Have a great Monday morning!

Friday afternoon baseball

The Tigers home game last night was moved to Mesquite due to the field not being playable. Poteet defeated the Tigers 11-0.

Playing with GIMP

It looks like tonights baseball game has been moved to Copeland Field in Mesquite due to wet field conditions. The varsity game is scheduled to start at 4PM.

I downloaded GIMP the other night and haven't had much time to mess around with it. I do like this feature.

Skywatch Friday-Finally

Friday finally made it here. Yesterday seemed like Friday at work. It was our Sr. Directors 50th birthday and we had a pot luck.

No time to rest. Tonight the Terrell baseball team is scheduled to host Mesquite Poteet. Poteet is the favorite to win district, so tonight's match up will be tough.

Tomorrow morning is the 5K in Kaufman.

Find other Skywatch Friday sites here.

Thursday bonus

Another Dallas Arboretum shot. I will probably put up an album on Facebook this weekend with more shots from Dallas Blooms.

My boss is celebrating his 50th birthday today. Happy Birthday Mark.

Only 2 days until the Spring into Action 5k Fun Run and Walk. I guess I am ready.

Bride to be

The Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful setting for pictures of the Bride.

Monday Morning Mashup

The snow didn't hang around very long. It's suppose to make it to the mid 60s today and mid 70s Tuesday. Lets hope the snow and the cold weather is gone for good. There are a couple of more pictures on the Terrell Daily Photo Facebook page.

To follow up on the paint ball post from yesterday, the paint looks orange, but looking closely at the pictures it looks like the ball may have had a red shell. The paint washes off the glass. I did see the glass broken in a door of a unoccupied building, not sure if its related to the paint ball. I heard from someone who said the grounds of Terrell Senior Terrace Apartments have been littered with red and blue paint balls lately, fired from the homes behind the complex. A few pictures have been added to the TDP Facebook page.

The Terrell girls soccer team will take on The Colony in the second round of the playoffs. The Lady Tigers had a bye in the first round. The match is scheduled for Tuesday night at Tom Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy, Texas.

The Tigers baseball team has two tough district contests this week. Tuesday they travel to Red Oak and they are home Friday against Mesquite Poteet. They close the week out on Saturday traveling to Royce City for a non district game.

The Vagabond Players are opening a new play Thursday night. Contact Books and Crannies for reservations.

Less than a week till the Spring into Action 5K fun run and walk in Kaufman, Texas. Are you registered?

April 17th is The Fountain 5K & walk in Terrell, Texas. The run will be held during the Heritage Jubilee.

More than snow

It looks like we got more than snow last night. Many of the store fronts on Moore Ave. were hit by paint balls. I will have more tomorrow morning on the Monday Morning Mashup.

Springtime Sunday Morning

We got the snow, it started yesterday in the early evening. I'd say we have about 2 inches on the ground, but the roads look clear. Today's picture is from the same tree as yesterdays post.

Madness in March

Yesterday the high in Terrell was 74 degrees. The temperature has been dropping all day, tonight it is expected to drop to 32 degrees and a chance of snow flurries.

Tuesday Bonus

Just one more from the Dash Down Greenville 2010.

This is just wrong.

Contrast

There was a lot of talk yesterday on Facebook about what year this car was. I think it was decided its a 56 Chevy.

Brian has a nice car on his site, thats not quite as old. Which one would you take?

Monday bonus

Fridays Skywatch fake bird post is part of the Ellis County Courthouse in Waxahachie, Texas.

Monday Morning Mashup

For anyone that didn't see my posts from Saturday or Sunday, I finished a 5k race, my first one. My time wasn't the greatest, but I wasn't going for time, I was going for the finish. I ended up jogging/walking the 5k in 41:12. My goal for the next race is under 40 minutes. Complete race results are here.

North East Texas Fine Art Alliance is holding their Terrell Paint Out March 20-27, 2010. Info can be found here.

The Tigers baseball team has their tournament play behind them and now dive head first into district play. They won their first district game last week at West Mesquite. Tomorrow they host Mabank. Every game counts now in their drive to return to the playoffs.

In February, I posted a photo from part of the old Terrell Nike Missile site. Some of the comments are from someone who was stationed at the old Nike site in Alvarado, Texas. He has left some of his memories of working at a Nike site on the post. Check them out.

Photos have been added to the Facebook page from Fridays baseball game and from around town taken yesterday. Check the link to the right.

No school zones to drive through this week on the way to work, spring break has started.

Have a great Monday!

Dash Down Greenville 2010 post race

A few pictures from after the Dash Down Greenville. Everyone was having a good time waiting for the parade. We didn't stay for the parade, opting to take the train back to our car before the crowds.

Dash Down Greenville 2010

Here are a few shots of the Dash Down Greenville 5K race. This was my first ever 5K race. I wasn't sure I would be able of finish, but I did. I did walk a little, but for the most part I was running. I finished in 41:12. I am going to run again on the 27th in Kaufman. The race is the Spring into Action 5K fun run and walk. I'm going to try to get under 40 minutes.

This is near the starting line. It took me over 7 minutes to make it from my spot to the start.

Camera phone picture of my view during mile 2

I will post other pictures from the morning a little later today.

Tigers continue tourament play

The Tigers dropped another game in the I-30 tournament yesterday. Potentially more damaging than a loss of the game was the loss of starting senior pitcher Barrett Calverly who was hit by a line drive on the inside of the knee. The picture above is from earlier in the game.

The tournament losses may not help with the teams confidence, but the only record that will matter is district won/loss.

Brian and I are going to run in the Dash Down Greenville 5K race today. I'll have the camera in tow.

Kaufman wins the game heads to playoffs

Last night the Kaufman Lions hosted the Tigers boys soccer team in a game that was moved from Tuesday night because of the weather and field playing conditions. The field was wet and muddy last night but it didn't keep the Lions from scoring 4 second half goals and run away from the Tigers winning 4-0.

The first half was scoreless but each team did have scoring chances. The Lions came out strong in the second half, after senior night festivities that included player and parent introductions and give aways, and put the game away.

The play was rough all game as each team had multiple yellow cards handed out. The end of the match was marred by poor sportsmanship on both sides.

Tigers baseball update

The Tigers lost to Rockwall-Heath 8-0. They next play Midlothian at 3PM today.

Tenin Technique

Five years ago today Eric Tenin posted Snow in the Luxembourg garden. He hasn't missed a day since then. Congratulations Eric!

The Tigers baseball team begins their final tournament today in Rockwall. They play Rockwall-Heath at noon and Midlothian at 3. Both games are at Rockwall-Heath High School.

Brian and I got our packets for the Dash down Greenville. I cant believe I am going to take part in a 5K.

We also registered for the Spring into Action 5K fun run and walk on March 27th in Kaufman, Texas.

Enjoy the weather

Mid 70s yesterday, suppose to be the same today, with a small chance of rain. If you can get out of the office, go have some fun.

The Tigers baseball team won their district opener at West Mesquite 10-0 last night. Great start to district play. They have one more tournament that starts tomorrow in Rockwall before their first home game next Tuesday against Mabank.
I think everyone knows the US Census takes place this year. Its been all over the television, ten questions, 10 minutes. Why is it necessary for them to send out a letter this week letting us know that next week we will be getting the Census form in the mail? Whats the cost of that? Couldn't they at least send a bulk rate post card? Oh well, its not like its my money.........oh wait, it is.

Tuesday Bonus

75 degrees outside! Are you kidding me? I need to get out of the office. Of course with the wet weather, we are going to be getting the mosquito's and I am a mosquito magnet.

Tiger notes and HS baseball photos

The Tigers baseball team travels to West Mesquite tonight for their first district game. The boys soccer team travels to Kaufman for a district soccer game.

Birdville High School was one of the teams taking part in the Waxahachie tournament. It's part of the Birdville ISD along with Richland and Haltom High Schools.

A cool story making the rounds yesterday about the Birdville ISD from the Dallas Business Journals.

Tarrant County College and the Birdville Independent School District are teaming up to offer free tuition at the county community college starting this fall for every high school graduate at the district.

Click through the link for the entire story.

The Cedar Hill Longhorns was another team that Terrell competed against down in Waxahachie.
