MLK Jr. Birthday Program and Contest Presentations

Last night at the Terrell Performing Arts Center, MLK Celebration of Terrell, Inc. hosted the Annual MLK, Jr. Birthday Program and Contest Presentation. The Tribune has a detailed description of the mission of the MLK Celebration of Terrell and the purpose of the evening.

The celebration sponsors four contests every year for students in third grade through sophomores in college: art, essay, poetry and oratory. To enter the contest, students are asked to illustrate or write about someone working or living in Terrell that serves as good example within the community.

Here are a few pictures of the night, sorry the quality is not that great.

This is the SWCC A Cappella Choir. I have a you tube clip of them singing at the end of the program at the bottom of this post.

These are the Dancers for Christ, from Bethlehem Baptist Church in Terrell. I also have a you tube clip of their performance, but the quality is poor.

Below are a few of the students who were recognized for their essay.

The Herman Furlough Middle School Choir also sang.

It was a great way to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King. Today will be a continuation of his dream.

SWCC A Cappella choir, if you click through the video, you should be able to watch it in high definition.
